I know this thread is old, but when you go to return your books, look for this. Critical Race Theory edited by Crenshaw, Gotanda, Peller, and Thomas. It's a big volume but my recommendation is merely that you read the introduction. Since you said in another thread that racism in the US has declined dramatically and the situation is better (?) now, this will challenge those beliefs. It will challenge your understanding of racism and the limitations/weaknesses of the civil rights movement in effecting major changes.
