I would go to a hospital first and foremost. Anything else is folly.
I believe faith and prayer can "tip the scales", so to speak, but in no way does it change what is predestined. The Pope was dying. He could have survived, but he didn't.
The fundamental fact is that he was dying. Whether or not 15 million prayed for him, he was dying, and he died. Does that change my belief that there is power in the fundamental energy that connects the spiritual world to the physical? No.
That's like saying "I invested all my money in Pets.com, and now I'm bankrupt. Investing does not work."
Now is there statistical legitimacy in the study 206 posted? Perhaps. Am I possibly a fool for believing that there is a spiritual realm, or that there is power in prayer? Once again...perhaps. But if the world is an existential nightmare - if nothing exists but physical life and death, and I choose "foolishly" to believe in spirituality - that is my decision, and I will not be hurt or hindered if I see purpose in my beliefs or actions whether or not they come to fruition.
206 is a communist. He believes in the power of socialism to achieve mankind's necessary steps to cohabitability, sustainability, and social justice. Is he wrong? Perhaps. Is modified capitalism the true solution to mankind's problems? Is an unregulated, lassez-faire economy the solution? I would argue against those statements, but I cannot statistically prove it. My belief, as unfounded or grounded it seems to others, is my prerogative, and I may *never* see validation in my lifetime of anything I believe. Such is the case with everyone else on this board.
