So I get to talking to this guy in my math class at school.

We are both working on some math equations and he starts talking aobut religion. He tells me, "You are a christian, right?"....to which I reply..."What do you think?"

He goes on to say, "Well I think you are because you seem like a nice family guy and you help me with this math, so I think you are a 'good guy', thus, you are a christian."

So I put it on him....I tell him that I am not a Christian and that I am actually a full-blown Atheist. He asks me why and I tell him because I realized how much in my life I do not need God or A God to do what I do. I go on to tell him that my life, since I said Fuck God, has been sooooo much better. And I am not saying that because God exists, but because I quit waiting for miracles to happen and understand now that we control out own lives.

So............

He tells me that he wouldnt be the man he is if it wasnt for God. He states that Jesus changed him and he would be dead if it wasnt for Jesus.

To which i reply....."It is to bad you need a reason such as the belief in Jesus to lead the life you do." I told him that he would never known I was Atheist if I didnt tell him. And I told him that peoples biggest misconception about Atheism is that we are all long haired, tattooed, freaks roaming the earth, and we arent. most of us are naturally good people that lead very normal lifes, but we do not NEED God to live a "good" life.

Anyway......this is the email he sent me after class was over, later that night:

I wanted to take just a moment to Thank You for a couple of things, and I meant to do it today.
1) Thank You for your patients and help during this math class. I appreciate the extra time and effort you have put in to make sure that this old guy is making it. It really does mean a lot to me.
2) I wanted to Thank You for our good conversation last week about God, and being or not being a Christian. When ever I meet someone like you who is not a believer, I automatically assume that God put you in my life for me to save you? I forget that it works both ways and sometimes non-believers are put in my life to help stregthen me and my relationship with God. And that is Exactly what you did. After our conversation, I thought about all we talked about all night and the next day, and it opened my eyes and my heart even more to the man I want to be for Jesus. Thank YOU for helping me. Whether you believe or not, you are working for God.

And, just so you know, After careful thinking about your question "would you be the same with out God?" NO, I would definitely not be the same guy. (been there, done that...and it wasn't pretty)

Again, Thank you for both of these areas and I will try to always keep you and your family in my prayers.

I have never understood why Atheisim (sp?) is so looked down up on in the US.
The way people are christians in the US looks almost like a sect from my view from Europe to the US.

I don't know what the definition of Atheist is in the US but I am one aswell and I have short hair and look "normal" like the next man. Also I am very helpfull friendly and kind to persons close or strangers... I prefer to do "good" rather then harm to people... most moral values I tressure you can compare to christian values I think (not sure since I am not one)

We as Christians do not judge other yes, but we must rebuke or correct our brothers with scripture, and if they don't change their blood is not on our hands. In James Chapter 5:16, if you may bare with me, it says ,"Confess your faults to one another, and pray for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."
