^^^ While I do believe both of those are big parts of the problem they have also become a major cop out for personal responsibility for those who commit crimes. They never had a chance, their parents weren't there for them, blah blah blah. Yeah sure those are going to effect someone greatly but at the end of the day these guys decided to grab a gun and go into a church and shoot at people. That is no one's fault but their own.

I agree to disagree if that makes sense. There is no doubt people are responsible for their own actions. But society has created an economic divide that makes it hard for the working class to spend the quality time needed to teach their children right from wrong. Good people that have to put food on the table and a roof over their kids head. What happens is the kids are being raised by other kids. This is not always the case. I feel my children are a reflection of me. Trust me, all the bad I have done makes me that much better of a parent. Then you have some parents that rather raise little punk ass kids and think it's cute. Letting their kids grow-up too fast, letting them listen to rap music, etc. I mean what is a kid supposed to do when they are being force fed this nonsense? Or parents that don't even raise their kids. I really do feel sorry for these kids. But at the end of day, they made the decision and are responsible for their actions. But how can you blame them? All you have to do is listen to some rap music to find the answer. They are doing what they think is acceptable amongst most of their peers not realizing most of their peers got it fucked up. Some are just stupid and others are a product of their environment.

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland police searched Friday for a shooting suspect who opened fire as a funeral was taking place at a north Portland church.

The service was being held Friday afternoon inside the New Hope Missionary Church on North Gantenbein Avenue.

Witnesses said gunfire erupted following a fist fight at the back of the church.

The shooting left Darshawn Lavone Cross, 31, wounded with what police described as "life-threatening injuries." He was shot several times in the stomach area.

Sgt. Brian Schmautz with the Portland Police Bureau said Friday the victim has a criminal history of gang-related activity. Family members at the funeral said he is the nephew of the woman who was being remembered at the service - 51-year-old Sharon Lynn Kemp.

Early reports indicated the suspect fled the scene in a white Chevrolet Impala with no license plates on it but police could not confirm that information. Police were interviewing witnesses Friday evening and no suspect information was immediately released.

YOU ARE RIGHT DUKE. SOME PEOPLE DONT RESPECT THINGS LIKE CHURCH FAMILY ECT. THE THOUGHT OF A "FAIR" FIGHT SEEMS LIKE A DISTANT MEMORY TO ME. WETHER ITS CAUSED BY BAD PARENTING OR SOCIETY OR WHATEVER IS BESIDES THE POINT. ALL THE INDIVIDUAL CAN DO IS TAKE CARE OF THEIR SLICE OF THE PIE AND RECOGNIZE THAT THE NEXT MAN MAY NOT BE DOING THE SAME. AND PLAN AND PROTECT THEMSELVES ACCORDINGLY.

My cousin got shot in his kneecap and I took a ricochet in the upper arm at my homeboys wake back in '95. During the early-mid 90's gangbanging era, that was just an easier place to find the enemy all together. Shit was pretty common.
