The Game Drops Aftermath, Signs Deal With Geffen?

After widespread rumors, it now appears that The Game has left Aftermath Records for Geffen Records.

For months, rumors have been circulating that the Compton bred rapper had plans to leave the label to avoid releasing his sophomore album, The Doctor's Advocate under G-Unit Records.

According to the Interscope owned web site, comptongame.com, the presence of the Geffen Logo and the absence of the Aftermath Logo leads one to believe Game may have left.

Game, who released his debut album The Documentary via G-Unit/Aftermath Records, has been having an on-going feud with G-Unit honcho 50 Cent since last year.

Furthermore, a post on comptongame's forums says that in order for Game to avoid releasing The Devils Advocate under G-Unit/Aftermath, Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine advised him to sign a 5 album deal with Geffen for an undisclosed sum.

In return, Game will receive a distribution deal for his record company, Black Wall Street which is under Interscope Records.

The post also adds that Dr. Dre and Game's relationship has not been affected by the label move. Dre will still play a big part in the making, marketing and the publicity of The Devils Advocate.

Representatives for Czar Entertainment didn't return calls for comments

Earlier this week, The Game leaked one of the album's singles titled "One Blood." The Devils Advocate, which is set for release later this year, will feature appearances from Nas and Mary J Blige, while production is supplied by Cool & Dre, Scott Storch and Dr. Dre, among others.

Krazy....
But here's an article I got from MTV.com dated on 7/26/06

When Game talks about "one blood," he's not talking about plasma. The Compton, California, MC is shouting out his affiliation and letting the world know his new album, The Doctor's Advocate, is coming soon. On Monday, he released his new song, "It's Okay (One Blood)."

The beat incorporates a sample and loop of Junior Reid's reggae classic "One Blood." According to Game's camp, newcomer Reefa produced the track.

"The 'Math gonna drop him, if 50 ain't rockin' with him no more," Game raps, referencing the rumors that he had been dropped from Dr. Dre's Aftermath label in the wake of his beef with 50 Cent.

"Everybody knows I'm the heir to the Aftermath dynasty," he continues, reaffirming his allegiance to the Doc.

Months ago, Game's manager, Jimmy Henchman, said his client would in fact work with Dr. Dre on The Doctor's Advocate, but there has since been no confirmation from Game or Dre about new collaborations (see "Game Working On The Doctor's Advocate With ... You Guessed It ..."). The controversial lyricist has definitely been in the studio with another Dre, though: one-half of Cool & Dre, the duo who produced The Documentary's Grammy-nominated single, "Hate It or Love It."

"We gave him some really hot records," Dre of Cool and Dre said recently in L.A. "We gave him this record with Mary J. Blige. [It's] another soulful record. Mary flipped it. We was in the studio — it was Mary, me and Cool, Game. The record is so beautiful. I believe the Mary song is called 'People.' Then we did a record with him that's so phenomenal that's up for first single status. This record is called 'Stop.'

" 'Stop' is something you never heard before," he continued. "Me and Cool got this really new style. The beat is hard, but melodically, it's new. It's on some 'Twilight Zone' sh--. It [goes,] 'Stop/ When the lights go out and the music go off.' It's crazy. The Game is spitting crazy on it. We actually did three records for his album. We did another one that Nas is on."

The Doctor's Advocate has a November 7 release date, and while "It's Okay (One Blood)" is still considered just a street single — not the proper first single — there are plans in motion to shoot a video for it. There's a Scott Storch-produced cut called "Strip Club" that is being talked about as the official first single, but no plans have been finalized.

NO. HE IS SIGNED TO BOTH G-UNIT AND AFTERMATH. AS LONG AS HE'S UNDER THAT CONTRACT, G-UNIT GETS PAYED OFF HIM, SIMILAR TO WHEN DRE SIGNED THAT CONTRACT WITH EAZY, AND EAZY WAS GETTING MONEY FROM DRE WHEN HE WAS WITH DEATHROW, BASICALLY ITS AN EXCLUSIVE CONTRACT:

So, the album is not on Aftermath anymore, and the name is being changed from the Doctor's Advocate to the Devil's Advocate..

Sounds like Dre is distancing himself from Game.

Except for the last paragraph that you quoted three times, it sounds like it from the first article.

He's not on Dre's label anymore, Dre doesn't do much production on the actual album, and the title is changed from Doctor's Advocate to Devil's Advocate.

Of course Game's people will say that Dre isn't distancing himself, but it sounds like he is.

G-Unit can easily sell his contract to another party and still get paid off him even though he would no longer be signed to G-Unit. Theres no need for an exclusive anything. That is not the arrangement.

Absolutely not....Mac Dre never fucked with him when he was alive, he shouldn't fuck with him while he's dead......I do hope clyde & ya boy are on there tho....but I doubt it....Ya boy has an interview on www.aftermathmusic.com tho......and why the change from Doctor's Advocate to Devil's Advocate?

I can see Ya Boy being on it. But far as Mac Dre I highly doubt that will ever happen. We'll see 2 Pac verse on a Game album before Mac Dre

Seems like this was just a decision made by Jimmy Iovine(running Interscope) & The Game. It was a exchange Jimmy gets Game to sign a new recording contract at Geffen and in returnJimmy signs Black Wallstreet to a distrubution deal at Interscope. But IMO It seems like interscope and aftermath was put in a situation where they had to pick between 50 Cent & The Game so to be safe bc both of them are bringing in major money and sells they just took them off the same label. 50 is more valuable to them so thats why he stayed.
