Just playin yalll...

What yall think of these Mix Tapes thats gettin released left and right...?

I personally dont feel em at all for our approach to the industry, but like I say to each him own.

They are cool to listen to like 1 or 2 times through just to trip out on how other artists sound over these familiar mainstream beats, but I dont think this is the ticket to gettin noticed,

i feel them...i think its good for an artist to release a mix tape, of stuff they've been featured on or unreleased tracks, right before they drop a cd to get their name known or more known...thats just my opinion on them...

I am diggin them, as long as they comin wit hard flows over them beats...its good for exposure, but they shouldn't be sold for $10, they should be sold for $5 or just given away for promo...Some fans or music consumers might pefer to hear you over some MAJOR PRODUCTION, its a good way to get noticed, so folks can see how you would sound, if you had that type of budget...

I'm feelin' what MDash is spillin'.....I'd personally rather hear brand new cuts, but if a mixtape is another avenue for the fans to hear your sound, then I'm all for it.....

i think its funny how i released
GATED FREESTYLES VOLUME 1....
which was REAL freestyling
(not shit u TELL people u didnt write but u really did
or shit u wrote on the spot right b4 u hopped n the booth
im talkin bout every single word comin str8 from ya noggin)
laid on (mostly) mainstream beats.....
over a YEAR AGO......
when all these WEST coast heads
barely knew what a (traditional EAST coast) mixtape was
and now all of a sudden theyre all the rage.....
juss goes 2 show u that true innovators are always overlooked........

but...onto the actual subject...

if done right they can be great promotional tools.....
where the artist doesnt have 2 worry bout losing $ on units
from people bootleggin but they still get their music out there....

FUCK A MIX TAPE, if you can't come original with your own hit's and sound, then don't come out at all, FUCK DA SANE that's my opinion!

If you look back at a lil rap history, sampling and remakes of songs have help make rap what it is today. Like it or not it is going to neva stop. Look at snoop with lodi dodi, and Scarface with Mary Jane to name a couple. Its not impossible to come original with a remix, it more then often is tighter than the original.
