Let's start with an undeniable fact: The United States of America has set more people free than any other country in the history of mankind. We all know about World War II, but here's what's happened recently:
§ In Eastern Europe, the policies of Ronald Reagan led to the freeing of at least 122 million people from Soviet domination.
§ More than 48 million South Koreans remain free because of American protection.
§ Nearly 23 million Taiwanese remain free because of American protection.
§ The state of Israel and five and a half million Jews would be crushed by its enemies if not for American aid.
§ By removing the brutal regimes in Iraq and Afghanistan, America and Britain have given almost 50 million people at least a shot at some kind of self-determination. Also, the American-driven campaign against the butcher Milosovic in the Balkans saved the lives of hundreds of thousands of people, most of them Muslims.
§ America is sending $3 billion a year to Africa to combat the AIDS epidemic. By comparison Canada is sending $270 million, France a paltry $60 million.

I'm going to c&p what I posted in your forum mac...

Type of shit is this? You think it's thier fault the majority of the poplution of Earth is living in poverty? Our world has an obscene gulf between rich and poor. The private assets of the 200 richest people are more than the combined incomes of the poorest 2.4 billion people - almost half the world's population.

In fact, the United Nations estimated that "the additional cost of achieving and maintaining universal access to basic education for all, basic healthcare for all, reproductive care for all women, adequate food for all, and safe water and sanitation for all is roughly $40 billion a year...This is less than 4% of the combined wealth of the 225 richest people."

Poverty is clearly not due to a lack of resources. It is caused by the way the capitalist system misallocates resources. Agribusinesses and construction industries do not feed the hungry and house the homeless, because it is not profitable for them. The fact that large corporations are privately owned locks them into a ruthlessly competitive market economy where they cannot worry about anything except maximizing their short-term profits, or else they will be out-competed by their rivals.

Look, capitalism is not working. Internationally, 815 million people worldwide go hungry. We live on a planet where 55% of the 12 million child deaths each year are caused by malnutrition. And it's getting worse. According to the United Nations, the poorest countries are worse off now than they were 30 years ago.

On the basis of current trends, the numbers living in absolute poverty - that is, on less than a dollar a day - will increase by ten million a year for the next 15 years. The Aids epidemic has already killed 25 million people and is predicted to kill a further 68 million in the coming decades. In Botswana alone, 39% of the adult population have HIV/Aids.

Meanwhile in the US, the richest country on earth, the wealthiest 1% has seen their incomes increase by 157% since 1979. By contrast, the bottom 20% are actually making $100 less a year, 45 million people live below the poverty line and over 40% have no medical cover. Despite all the advanced technology and wealth available to the US, more than 32 million people have a life expectancy of less than 60 years.

As Karl Marx wrote over a hundred years ago, the capitalists are those who own the means of production. They own the factories, banks and offices. Marx's prediction that capitalism would lead to an ever-increasing concentration of wealth in the hands of a tiny minority and the increased exploitation of the vast majority worldwide is graphically borne out by the reality at the beginning of the 21st century.

In the last 50 years the wealth gap between the richest 20% of humanity and the poorest 20% doubled. Individual multinational companies have become richer than entire countries.

The world's 100 biggest companies now control 70% of global trade. Any one of them sells more than any of the poorest 120 countries on the world export market, while 23 of the most powerful sell more than even semi-developed countries such as India, Brazil, Indonesia or Mexico.

Support amerikkka? lol, only if you want global death and destruction.

2-0-Sixx, are you agreeing with this mans (bluebox_visions) comments? I hate to burst your bubble, but the man created this topic to inform others on the good the United States has done this world, and you return with some counter to to degrade the U.S. That is a good little read, and it was worth my time, but it's purpose was served well the first time you posted it. Can you reply to his post now? This has nothing to do with whether he is right or wrong, it has to do with sticking to the topic.

America has free'd people. And you talk about the difference between the upper and lower class of the world. Do you understand where I'm coming from? This is a prime example of why you see so many conservatives failing to realize your truth. You throw it right in their face and they still deny it, it's because the same thing is going on with people like you. Something like this is brought to light, and instead of acknowledging it, or at the very least arguing it, you find some way to bash the U.S. Why man? Can't you see that in the end, you're just like them?

Wrong....says a large majority of experts on the Soviet Union. Reagan's hard-line policies allowed the hard-right in the Soviet Union to consolidate power, and point to America's aggression as proof that the system needed to be kept in place. According to three new books on the Soviet Union, released seperately, but around the same time, Reagan and America was the spook and bogeymen needed to continue the absurdity of the Soviet Arms Race and militarism.

§ More than 48 million South Koreans remain free because of American protection.
I agree with this.

§ Nearly 23 million Taiwanese remain free because of American protection.
This too.

§ The state of Israel and five and a half million Jews would be crushed by its enemies if not for American aid.
Beep! Wrong! Our aid to Israel is a *major* cause of Terrorism. We continuously send weapons and the money to the people who incur on the West Bank and Gaza Strip almost daily, with Al-Jazeera reporting every time an Israeli attack happens. Israel proved in the 7 day war that it can hold its own. Our continued support for them has done nothing but destroy our credibility in the Middle East and lead us to be named "the big Satan" in the region.

The Milosevic campaign was unilateral. It was called America-driven because the size of America mandates that we play a larger part. And it will remain to be seen what happens in Afghanistan and Iraq.

§ America is sending $3 billion a year to Africa to combat the AIDS epidemic. By comparison Canada is sending $270 million, France a paltry $60 million.
Bush's "AIDS money" is a political ploy to gain favor. If Dumbya really cared about AIDS, he would create a universal health care system so the urban poor in America it affects could have some defense against it.

lol@nitro. The shit that was posted is simply that...shit.

When I'm off work I will go through his post in great detail...

The reason I posted what I did, is because this guy is trying to make amerika look like a great, peaceful, nobel, liberating nation when in fact it is the complete opposite.

It may be the opposite, it may not be peaceful, but none of that can change history. I will say this again, I am not defending what this guy posted, I just want people to discuss what he posted, and not some off the wall U.S. bashing that has nothing to do with the topic. I would also request that once you do get off work and debate this in great detail, that you debate the incidents he posted, and not reply with things such as "well while they were there they did this". If that is at all possible.

WHITE DEVIL almost did it, but his comments on Israel had nothing to do with whether or not the people there are being protected, and his comments about AIDS money says nothing about whether or not it is really being delivered. This is the kind of shit I'm getting at.

Now get your sarcastic comment out of the way, WHITE DEVIL.

financially?

sure, why not? how much money has the US given to 3rd world countries to help them build their cities, feed their people, and create jobs? In the billions Im sure. And there's a difference between U.S. government funding and private funding. Why would the government force rich people, large companies, and CEOs to give money to some starving kid in africa? whether you want to believe it or not, thats taking away from their rights. rich or not, its taking away their rights. how would you like it if you came up on millions of dollars and had the US government force you to donate 50% of it to some third world country?

yeah, the US has made some messes, killed a lot of innocent people, and invaded innocent countries. but compare that to the amount of positive things they've done for other countries. just like dude said in this thread. look at all the people they've freed.

the US isnt 1/100 as evil as you make it out to be.

That's because the US keeps up appearances that way, like we walk on water, eat bullets and shit ice cream. I would rather have a govt. that didn't lie to me...at least I would know what I was up against. We are a shady country that tries to act like our shit doesn't stink. We do things like fund rebel groups in nations with anti-amerikan leaders, so that we can take them out of power...but then we are shocked when ten yrs down the line this rebel group that was our allie is now a terrorist group...attacking with US arms and munitions, as well as US training...BTW that's what military specialists are predicting will have to be the next move in Iran. So fuck all this sanctamonious BS patting ourselves on the back for being this great humanitarian country, we fuck over way more than we help.
