Friday the 13th: The Game is a semi-open world third-person survival horror game set in the fictional camp of Crystal Lake in the mid-1980s in order to better capture the feel of the original films. It is scheduled for release for Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

The game is an asymmetrical multiplayer game, pitting up to seven players controlling Camp Crystal Lake counselors against one player controlling Jason Voorhees. A player may also control Tommy Jarvis, who becomes playable when certain conditions are met. According to gameplay demos, Jason has heightened hearing and vision, with him being able to teleport anywhere the player wants. The objective of the counselors is to escape from the camp or survive until time runs out on the session, while Jason's objective is to kill all the remaining players. Jason may also be defeated with an "‘epic’ win condition" that requires teamwork, and is difficult to perform.

I've read from people who played the beta saying that Jason, as he should, almost always wins.

There will also be a single player mode. This game was supposed to come out last year but they delayed it to work on adding single player. I think there were a lot of concerns it would end up like Evolve. I'm not sure if that simply means they are adding a bot mode or if it's something more in-depth. IF it has a decent single player, this game could be pretty sick.

Beautiful & peaceful camp Crystal Lake:

It's so hot out tonight, maybe I'll take off my clothes and take a quick dip to cool off!

Is somebody there? Hey it's not funny! I'm in no mood for jokes, guys!

Sarah? Are you ok? Why were you screaming? Stay right there, I'm coming!

Anyone else?

Part 2: The Future

Will Jason from Freddy vs Jason or the Remake be added to the game?
Unfortunately they can't be added due to licensing restraints.

Will weather effects be added to the game?
Quote from Wes (developer):
Weather is something we want to include for sure. Not sure if we can get it in by launch as it takes a very long time (art) to make rain/weather FX look believable. It's not hard to just make rain fall from the sky. We could do that with ease, it's the ancillary aspects of rain that will take time.

I'm interested in this concept but hope most of the Jason variants won't be paid dlc
Evolve had the same type of concept which seemed cool at the time but it flopped pretty bad. Being that it's Jason at summer camp in the 80s already makes it better but my fear is it will get repetitive and old fast. Hopefully they figure out a way to keep things interesting.

Yea it seems limited it would be cool as a budget title like $30 but idk if this will be a $60 experience
That's what I'm thinking too. Could be rental only type game. Or wait till it's on sale but the problem with that is by the time it's on sale the online world could already be dead. One of the reasons these exclusive online games, or in this case probably really limited single player, can end up in a shitty situation.

They should make it $30 like you said to get more buyers on day one, build a online community and if they really want to, charge DLC for single player content (I don't like that idea but they already said Single Player is coming later after launch so that's probably what they are planning anyways).

Hope it works out though, I love the concept.

my take so far.. def not worth $40 maybe $25 at most. i've played it for 3 days as counselors.. i hella wanna play as Jason. it gets intense, pretty funny to hear people screaming. the hit detection blows but they are working on the fixes. this game is better if you play with people you know. it's almost pointless to play without a mic unless you are Jason. 7/10
