Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar , the pair of light heavyweights that drove the UFC into the mainstream, have signed for a long-awaited rematch, the Boston Herald reported Sunday. They will fight August 26 on the under card of Chuck Liddell's 205-pound defense versus Renato Sobral.
Since their April 2005 bout, which Griffin won by the slimmest of margins to capture the light heavyweight division of Spike TV's first The Ultimate Fighter, both Griffin and Bonnar have found highs and lows.
Griffin most recently came up short on points in a controversial loss to Tito Ortiz. Before that he'd won both of his UFC Pay-Per-View bouts. Bonnar also came up short in his last fight, a decision loss to TUF season two heavyweight winner Rashad Evans. Before the Evans' loss, Bonnar was 3-0 competing on Ultimate Fight Night cards.
