rite now in the copa oro its pretty much gonna be Mexico vs US if each team defeats theyre next opponent....im with Winslow though, even though you grow up here and were born here you still got your reasons to support mexico that some people (white roomates that support US soccer team) will never understand....the US always trys to bring soccer up and about though every couple of years, the last big thing i remember when people started to care for a while was the big deal about Adu, and now you got the euro league and mexican league all stars coming to play US football, people like beckham, cuau, figo, xavier, and maybe even fat ronaldo.....

Freel thou, soccer aint no joke internationally. Shit gets real serious bout that. Especially them hooligans or whatever in Europe. Muthafuckas squab over that shit. I'm mexican, I'll cheer for mexico, but I know damn well mexico will never (anytime soon) win a world cup. Brazil game is too fuckin' skilled though. Regardless of the politics in the world cup.

So why do you hate?

Because Mexico has always been a "soccer" country while the US hasn't but now that the US is actually trying they have a team that's equal if not better??

Or do you hate for other reasons?

and if so what are they?
yeah its basically that a country that has always disrespected soccer all of a sudden is up in the mix and is good simply because they have the money to be. i respect the players for their hustle, but i cant root for them when they represent a country that for some reason has always treated soccer as a joke. i bet most americans dont even know their team's in the semifinals of a tournament cup right now, while most other countries would be going ape shit over it. so i guess its like hating the spoiled rich kid who you feel deserves something less than the rest of the people going after it. cant help it, im just a hater

for your information soccer is a very popular sport in african countries.
i know that. i dig on ghana and senegal whenever theyre on the field. i meant black americans...the same ones who also dont like baseball because whenever they have to play it and cant hit a pitch say "baseballs gay. lets play football or basketball."

good honest answer but I cannot accept it

lol

I guess the reason I cannot accept is simple...you say america doesn't take the sport seriously....but if you look at the numbers, soccer is the #1 youth sport in america......so it is taken seriously....it's the players that don't take it serioulsy as they get older....Sure the money isn't there to be made "in america" but if they stayed with it like other athletes do they would make the money outside of america.

So I can buy your arguement from the pro soccer side of things...but as I can attest to since I frequent our MLS team all the time.....Money is being thrown into it....it's the fans that don't support to a level to be taken higher....

So yes soccer is supported by youth, and by mls owners as well....it's the PLayers (from after youth level to college level) and the fans that don't give it that extra edge!

i hear ya, youre coming at it from the same perspective as my roomates who are true soccer fans who watch their mls and everything (i know its funny, but its true), and i respect you for it, but you guys are a small minority in america. youre right about youth soccer, but its YOUTH soccer. most american kids watched barney growing up...but barney is not taken serious. i remember a skit on "the best damn sports show" where people were calling each other yelling "goooaaallll!!!" when a goal was scored during the world cup and then it gets to john kruks fat ass and he goes "who gives a damn, its soccer" and hangs up the phone... thats the american attitude towards soccer.

That may be true!

Can't argue there....lol

buit if the kids stayed in it like they do baseball, football, basketball and even hockey....then the sport would make more money then it does now.

Also I blame the players again because the "GOOD" American players are forced to go overseas and make the real money.....and the reason there isn'yt real money in MLS is fan support....lol

So the players leaving force the fans to not want to pay but the fans not paying force the player to leave...it's a never ending cycle

The colorado rapids owner is doing good trying to get that changed around, but until all MLS owners do the same it will never end

So many kids in soccer cuz its the easiest sport any kid wit 2 feet can play..and parents like it cuz the kids run off all there energy and then folks don't gotta worry about their hyphy ass kids.. I used to help coach little league baseball and about 50 % of parents use that shit as daycare..

But I enjoy a good soccer game every now and a while ill watch highlights on the spanish channels. Plus its fun to watch my lil guy try and keep the ball infront while he runs. Ill put him in whatever sport he wants but it aint no day care...

Oh and mexico is my team but I don't hate on the usa team I root for them as long as they aint playin Mexico...
