Maybe you should find another kinda music genre to listen to. Thats what Ive done. I still love all the classic bay area and westcoast rap from the 90's and will bump it til the day I die but most rap music nowadays is too flashy and generic for me. Being a musician myself I need to constantly listen to music that will motivate and inspire me. Thats why Ive turned to alot of jazz, funk, soul, reggae etc.

THATS DEFINETILY NOT TRUE.. YOU MAY THINK LIKE THAT BUT THE MAJORITY OBVIOUSLY DOESNT.. EVEN IF RAPPERS STEP THEY GAME UP AND START DROPPING QUALITY SHIT THIS GENERATION IS GROWING UP ON DOWNLOADING THEY DONT NO BETTER.. THEY STUCK IN THEY WAYS.. PLUS ITS TOO EASY YOU DONT HAVE TO BE A COMPUTERNERD FOR IT... IF YOU DONT KNOW ANY BETTER YOU NOT GONNA ALL OF THE SUDDEN START PAYING FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS ALWAY FREE

^^^ exactly...

@ DFresh77 - Tell that story about you buying all that music to a random 14-15 year old and they'll be like "You spent money for music?" Then they'll be like, "You can go places and buy music?"

lol

Don't underestimate the "get yours" mentality that hip hop created...

I do it for love of music, period...but at the same time, music is big business. Artists paint, do sculptures and all that good shit because they love creating works of art...but at the same time, if somebody wants their artwork, they aren't going to just give it up for nothing. People deserve to be paid for their creations, regardless of what it is.

One thing I know is, most music fans don't understand what it takes to create a record. Lots of time in a studio, not so much time with family and friends...hours upon hours of writing, recording, mixing, mastering, re-doing tracks. THEN, artists have to deal with the business of it all...including public relations, marketing, tours, appearances, etc. It's all a lot of hard work and not much time spent at home, which can cause problems...but we do it because we love it...we just deserve to get paid for going through everything in order to bring what folks want to hear, to the table.

if rap cats were really serious about making money from music, they'd have publishing companies set up for themselves cause thats the only way to make music money last. Nowadays they just want to be VIP in a club, get bitches, put rims on they mazdas and see short term money. Publishing brings LONG TERM, retirement type money. If they're serious about their shit, they'd have their stuff set up, they're just looking to be Hood Stars(no pun intended).

i think I've listened to about 5 "new" rap cds in the past month...Imma stay with my Stevie Wonder "Songs in the Key of Life", Marvin Gaye "What's Goin On" and my classic rap shit, WHEN PEOPLE ACTUALLY CARED ABOUT MAKING GOOD MUSIC...

Nope, but everybody has their own tastes, feel me? I don't like Picasso, but his work is worth some serious bread, and folks buy that shit. I know people that don't feel my work, and I know people that do...the ones that do, buy it...but I'm not famous so there isn't a rush to bootleg my shit on the net, costing my company and I serious cash. Feel me?

The problem is, there are fans of music out there that download their favorite artists albums for free. If somebody doesn't like, say, 50 Cent, and they don't buy it...why the fuck would they download it?? If people don't like shit, they're not gonna want it at all. This leads me to believe, people are just greedy as fuck...they want what they want, but refuse to pay for it and keep money out of the creators pockets.

So, no, if I see a painting I don't like, I won't buy it....and I won't steal it. If I hear a rapper or a singer I don't like, I won't buy it, and I sure wouldn't waste any time downloading their entire album.
