Although I think Master P's music is horrible now and he is the true definition of a sell-out (uh oh, I'm a "hater" now), he was the one that got me hooked on Bay music.
I used to just listen to music on the radio and would not even consider anything unless it was on the radio. For example, I had never heard of Too $hort until album number ten or E-40 until "Rapper's Ball" was on the radio.
In 1997, I jumped on the No Limit bandwagon hard. It all started with Ghetto D and everything I was buying and listening to was No Limit music. One of those albums happened to be West Coast Bad Boyz II. I bumped the shit out of that CD but had no idea who the majority of those rappers were (i.e. Mac Dre, Cellski, 11/5, Brotha Lynch Hung). I remeber Mac Dre telling me how "every time he raps he busts what I like', Cellski telling me to "roll my vogues up and down the street" with a new type of beat that I had never heard before, 11/5 telling me how "if I give them 10 zips then they'll flip all 10", and Loki saying he'll give me a pineapple with a grenade in it. I looked at the credits to see who these rappers were. I looked for information about them on the internet and found out most of the rappers on WCBB2 had several albums out. That is when I also came across this website and have been listening to a majority of Bay and Sacramento rap since 1998.
So in closing, I'd just like to once again say thanks to Master P, who opened my eyes and ears to new rappers and closed my ears to such garbage as himself.
