man we talked a while ago about this

but ill just restate for those not in the convo

while i do think promo has alot to do with it...

point blank truth is the shit that these cats are doin is going completely unrecognized by average fucking radio listeners.

they dont know multiple syllable compound rhymes

its just beats to them..... and voice and how g somebody is.

they wouldnt know unique structure if a fucking DJ was screamin it at the beginnin of every track

it makes no difference the actual skill wise of the rapper on the radio. its all about how many times they play the shit and have people think its "cool"

people on this board hear a new tech track, and after the 2nd verse are like DAMNNNNNNNNNN, and we rewind that shit

show it somebody else and they are like "yea, that was cool....."

they dont know anything
My thoughts exactly. ANYBODY and EVERYBODY is a fucking one-hit wonder. Hittin the radio doesn't mean shit anymore these days, let alone video play. MTV and VH1 are fucking jokes nowadays, radios play nothing but bullshit, and anybody who listens to the radio, like you said, doesn't know the difference between a dope verse and a bangin beat. It doesn't matter if Tech hits the radio, because he'll be a one-hit wonder just like everyone else before him. Underground is where it's truly at right now, getting on the radio isn't even an achievement, much less an honor.

I've given up on this video/radio bullshit, and I can honestly give a fuck if they hit it or not, because in another 3 months after they do, the world will be on something else.

It's already being spun in the clubs around KC so I would think that progress is being made.
I'm not sure if you noticed, but Strange gets extra shit happening in and around KC. You dont see billboards if Tech in Detroit, LA, Boston, Miami, etc.... If backpack is getting spun there, its not going to get spun elsewhere. :(

Ha yeah I know. I'll be talking to someone about Tech N9ne and they'll said " Oh man I love them, they're so good"

It's amazing.
I told my boy one time, that I was going to a Tech concert and he was like "Don't they got a song with E-40 called Jellysickle" i'm like "Yeah". Since then, I've turned him in to a huge Strange Music fan. All my Tech CD's are currently in his car.. lol. My mom also thinks Tech is a group. Always referring to Tech as "they".

I know that every time Tech comes to Oregon (I go to all his shows both in Eugene and Portland) the shows are so packed you can barely move. People even show up to see the acts before he goes on, it's like mad support for the whole concert acts, not just Tech, but by the time you hear " woop woop " from Tech on the microphone behind the stage the place is going nuts. The WOW Hall in Eugene is a pretty old building and when Tech is on stage the shit from the cieling starts to fall down it's insane. People start chanting KC MO ... ROLLLLLL while they're waiting outside to get in. He has posters and shit plastered all over the town and even Kutt get's mad love too. Huge oversized posters and signs all around town letting people know when a show is. I even remember the last time I was in Portland for a concert, some Strange crew members were walking around town bullshittin' with people and acting real friendly. They do a good job of not being hot heads and making you feel like you as a fan really do count. It's dope

Sorry that was a little off topic, but back to the mainstream idea...
I play songs like " Cotton Soldier " and " Be Jealous " for people and they think it's "cool." But once they hear "Imma Playa" or "Caribou Lou" they think it's the best shit since sliced bread and then their like damn I need to hear more of his shit. I think it boils down to people's personal preference and that's something other people like myself can't really change. It amazes me that some of my friends and the people I know will think that "Slacker" is dope as hell but then "Come Gangster" is "alright."

People must be brainwashed by the bullshit the hear and their brains are stuck in the same pattern of crappy music. I'm not knockin' on other artist's and their work but to a certain degree a lot of the shit I hear isn't even music. It doesn't show any skill in actually writing verses and constructing them, if anything it's maybe 4 bars at max and then some repetitive bridge that leads to a repetitive hook with a good beat and it'll stay at the #1 spot on the radio for months.

I don't get it, but I think Tech has got his shit figured out as far as radio and TV go. I haven't been to one show that hasn't been sold out so he and the Strange Team are doing something right.

The couple times ive ever seen one of their commercials its late night, and about 30 second spots. And not super frequent. I believe i saw one commercial on BET for Killer, and one on comedy central for Feature presentation. Kinda odd to be on the computer and hear Krizz's voice coming from the wrong side of my room.

lol

i dont think any of them will go mainstream..

i think they will continue to have a very loyal underground fanbase though.

im not being negative or ...wishing bad shit upon them

but i just dont think its gonna happen.

go to any blog.....

you can find every nickatina album, messy marv, mistah fab, yukmouth, even fuckin "ya boy" album/mixtape in the world

but you dont ever see kutt calhoun.....

hes been in the game a while.

people just dont recognize shit
I just realized that this goober right here was g.spot.

But anyway, I think Backpack is going to be the first single off Genius, and it has plenty of club potential.

They (Strange Music) seem to be quite content with where they are right now. At least to myself as an "outsider" looking in... I see a very "complacent" attitude going on within Strange Music. :(
