Did anyone catch this program on the National Geographic Channel last night???They measured punches, kicks, quickness and balance of different style of matial arts via a crash dummy....the last hour was devoted soley to weapons of the arts....and concluded that the Katana was the "ultimate" martial arts weapon...shit can slice through a human with little effort....

One of the segmants had the "brick breaker" champions of the world...they are brothers and the amount of force measured by pounds they inflict at impact is unbelievable....the one brother did a shoulder break on 20 bricks and put out over 2 tons of force on impact....that measurs somewhere aorund a car crash impact at 60 mphs....

Heres the trailor-

I watched this show on "CHI"......making "CHI BALLS" n shit, this kid, was knocking out grown men blackbelts, from across the room....behind a partition, & the guy on the other side had no idea there was any invisible "chi ball" being thrown, but it sent him into the wall.
THAT LOOKED FUNNY CAUSE CHI IS SOMETHING DIFFRENT IN SPANISH.

Yeah I caught this show, it was definitely interesting. I was a little disappointed though, too much fluff and not enough science IMO. When they were measuring the force of different punching styles for example, it made no sense to use a different person for each punching form. By doing so, the varying results could just have easily been a result of the difference in strength of the individual.

And as far as these guys being “afraid” to go in the MMA ring because of what they may do to their opponent, I call bullshit. Without MMA training, these guys would be eaten alive. They may be able to hold their own in a stand up fight, but as soon as they are on the ground, any special abilities they may have had will be negated.

i caught it it was tight. they had a gracie on there for brazilian ju jitsu. i don't know where all this mma talk comes from cause they had every martial art in this show. definately watch it when you get a chance.

just about every martial art has a technique that can kill you including mma so stop comparing every fight sport to it. it's not the ultimate just take it for what it is just another art.

every one of them has it's strenghs and weakneses.

but that ninjitsu shit had me trippen. death from one blow i've heard of it from an old dude killing a younger stronger fighter but that shit turned out to be true.

you can be a senior citizen and kill anyone if you do it right. thats tight shit right there.

That shit is fraudulent. It's comparable to the supposed healing powers of benny hinn (it's all in the participant's mind).

I view martial arts as way of life and as a spiritual adventure....if its taught properly...that is what its for...not for "sport fighting"...

And IMHO...no MMA trained fighter could stand a chance against the highest of trained martial art masters...but whatever...ill guess will never know will we..

I DONT KNOW ABOUT THAT BRO FEDOR EMILIENKO IS A FUCKIN BAD ASS. MMA BROKE ALL THAT BULLSHIT ABOUT SECRET STYLES AND TECHNIQUES.
MMA IS ABOUT EVERYTHING THAT REALLY WORKS IN A FIGHT. ALL THEM FOOLS THAT WERE KARATE AND KUNG FU WERE THE FIRST TO GET WORKED. IF YOU NOTICE IT'S USUALLY JUST MUAY THAI, JIU-JITSU, WRESTLING, AND BOXING THAT SURVIVED IN MMA. THAT'S BECAUSE THEY ARE SOME OF THE MOST PUREST OF FIGHTING STYLES.
