anyone know why they switched from the original cover with the shield to the hoot ass cover they went with? the banner on the cover looks like a preset of Photo Maker Stay-At-Home Mom Edition 5 that came free in the mail...

Theres a major highschool(few blocks from me villa in Sac) with 2.5-3k student body, 2 liquor stores, smoke shop who love to support local artist. When I first moved to SAC both stores use to have Thizz and Mac Dre posters and now not one dame poster for any artist...even caught some of G Unit shit in there a while back...the game is evolving, Madonnas rumored deal is something major and states record labels are suffering!!

As far as the old ass material...thats another thing thats bootsy...How you gonna drop a album in fall 2007 with material from mid 2006?Its like thats the only Hits yall can make?

that's a viewpoint I can definitely understand. as an artist i challenge myself to keep making new material with up to date topics and what not. so yeah when you see a group like federation, that is or was on a major label, you defiinitely expect them to have fresh material but that's not the case. This is a problem I notice with a lot of artists. Many artists and groups release really old material that's been on their myspace for years and shit.

Since when do soundscans mean anything? The music industry as a whole has and will continue to suffer. Digital music and ringtones rule the whole world. First week sales don't mean anything without promo. However, their longevity will be based on what they do next. How will they promote themselves from now on? We can't blame Warner for this, because we don't know the terms of the deal. Its up to my homies to promote and market themselves. They need to saturate the industry with what's available to them.
Soundscan has always been wack in terms of tracking "real" numbers. When Kanye came out with "Through the Wire" he was behind J-Kwon in sales. "tipsy" was the #1 single, and album at the time. All these years later people are still buying Kanye's first album and J-Kwon is doing shows at bingo halls.
The majority of consumers pick what's hot for the moment like that foolio Soulja Boy. But he'll die out soon too. I'm sure his soundscan numbers are doing well, but what is his longevity.
I'm proud my hometown cats at least got somewhere. And those scan numbers aren't accurate. A majority of the people who got it, burned it from the internet anyway...for free.

The Feds formula for making music isn't bad.. Its how they release it that needs major overhaulin.. Why does it take them so long to get the car on the freeway and go. Why allow 5-6 songs leak over a year an a half.. Face it if the Bay just heard the album out of the blue they would say its a banger, but thats not the case now a year and a half later... This was exactly what happened to their last album and the hyphy drink that Rick Rock put out... This business is moving quicker than ever and this album just rolled by not making a scratch ont he radar let alone a dent.... I wish the feds the best cause of the energy they bring, but they need to hire a top manager to lump them withother majors and seal the vault on the songs till 1 single drops, commercial spins roll, mixtapes rotate, contests and videos start infecting the listeners.. you ned to build hype it doesnt always land in your lap...

if u aint got 10 bones to drop on a bay area group making an effort to take it to the next level. than quit sayin u a part of this game

the saddest part about the whole thing, is that theres about 5000 cats out here who say they rap, produce, dj, and wat not,,,,,, and everybody complaining about the game and how we never gone step it up. and how shady shit is, but the actual (so called) cats who are in the game. wont even support a major relaese from they corner of the map. and yall expect the rest of the nation to support us, please.
just my statement, i know imma get hatin on for this one but, so wat . take a number and a seat.

i love this music shit,. but the politics and pillow talkin is fukd up and sad.

It Doesn't Matter

I dont give a fuck what anyone says selling less than 2000 copies your first week on a major label when your video has been serviced to MTV and bET and is gettin played on mtv jams is a major fucking FAILURE. This shit is career suicide. They got a decent single in happy i met you. I just really think their time has passed. sad to say but its a wrap for the feds.

man....stop trippin'

if Feds werent viable in the industry, they wouldnt keep gettin snatched up by majors. major or not, if the public doesnt know its out there, they cant go and get it ya dig. wb pretty much set em up to fail.

IMO Feds should take a step back, use the ties & relationships they created all these years being in the majors, get a distro deal and put the shit out themselves. it makes more sense and cents. with the fan base they have, they're gonna see more $$ doin it themselves, and they wont have to sit on songs for over a year before you get the corporate ok....that shit is BS.

its wb fault shit didnt do good just like it was jive's fault ugks dirty money album didnt do well.....not capatilizing on the hype/buzz at the time.

we as fans neet to stop tryin' to be managers and stick to supporting our artists.....I believe sometimes we think our $15 entitles us to some sort of control over the artist....hahaha

I think we have such high hopes for our homegrown talent, that when they seem to "flop", we get our pride hurt, and we start bashin' em instead of supportin' em......by just the numbers alone, I can tell you that we as fans havent done our job.

just my opinion

I think thats where people are wrong. I mean I am a fan. I have nothing to do with the record industry. But I know my music, so when I spend $15 and get something I feel is a load of shit, someone is going to hear about it. Furthermore, they only sold 1800 units! Of course if you were a fan you could sit there and come up with a number of things you felt could have been done differently to help them make their way to the top. I mean I didn't even know this has been out for 2 weeks until I saw this post! What kind of promotion is that?! I don't think its criticism as much as it is dissapointment at who is actually in artist's ear and telling them this is what is going to make them big. I think people outside the industry (especially on BART) give much more insightful opinions of music than people in the industry.

The fans "havent done their job" because they either aren't fans or have already heard the whole damn cd! I wish the Feds the best of luck but I'm not a huge fan so I will not be buying the CD.

what business is it of the fans if they sold 1 copy or 1.3 million. if you are a fan of the federation dont allow sound scans to dictate who and what you like. support good music.

the day the fans started caring about soundscans, is the day hip hop died.

This statement is not 100% true. I agree with you on don't let soundscans dictate whether or not you buy a cd but fans are always curious about things of this nature so hip hop did not die based on soundscans. IT'S NOT DEAD AT ALL
