I was watching something about this the other day on cnn or some shit. The guy was saying that there will always be a hard format ie: CD's, DVD's, or whatever they evolve into. But the majority will eventually turn digital.

I know some Online Retailers had deals where if you pre-order an album you get a digital download of the album before the release (a few days) and when the CD was released they would ship it to you, that's the only time I would pay for an MP3.

my homeboy who is a producer and has a bunch of "artists" was asking me if i want to split the cost with pressing up cds and all that good shit but im not feeling it and i really want to convince him to get the shit on itunes however that works i have no clue but if he does that I would go in on it with him

how about...

MP4 vs DivX vs DVD

Why buy a DVD when you can download an MP4 for your iPod and a DivX AVI file for your Laptop and Divx Player.

DivX looks just as good as DVD on your TV (same as people that say MP3 sounds as good as the original CD its just an opinion and varies based on compression, etc...)... and they make Divx Players for home theater, mobile audio and personal portable players.

so why are movie makers still making DVD's and not just digital distribution?

I would download an AVI on broadband before I drove to the video store if I had the option for new releases and a lower price, but that doesn't mean everyone will... some people like to pay $5.00 to rent a scratched up DVD that skips and freezes halfway through a movie... :ermm:

^ I hear what you're saying about that.

I fuck with netflix on the xbox which is cool because I can que up a few movies and stream them directly to my TV, beats going to blockbuster, dicking around and getting discs that are all jacked the fuck up. My only gripe with Netflix is the lack of Every movie being available on demand. Other than that I will just find a link to DL new shit. Like the other day I just downloaded Rolemodels, took all about 15 minutes max, streamed it from my computer to my xbox and bam, no burning, no waiting, no homo, no berner.

the sound quality is better if its a CD but i don't know how record labels stay in business with people like me downloading everything under the sun especially independants.

I know that a lot of retailers are decreasing their inventory of CD's, especially older music because so many people download now. Borders and Best Buy come to mind in this aspect. I would much rather buy the CD than a bunch of mp3's though, and I really enjoy browsing for music at the store so I hope they don't stop making CD's.......

mp3 for stuff that is out of print. but if you are looking for 1 track of a cd, it is cheaper than buying the entire cd.

specially if it's out of print. oop cd is like $20 or more vs. 1 track you need from cd is like $1 or less. either way it supports teh artist some way.

i second this - shit they have it for ps3 games i think. scratch resistant coating.

if they had this for cds, the shit would last longer and id enjoy my music more. maybe in a few years all this nanotech shit they will coem out with a scratch resistant spray-on coating for surfaces.

i was thinking about the same shit for carpets cept it should be for stains and dirt and teh black rubber on peoples shoes when they scrape on your carpet. i got this one on my carpet, muthafucca was moonwalkin on my carpet with his jordans. left these black marks deep into the carpet.

eventually the CD may go away but not anytime soon... I would be more concerned with the Digital Radio and Television movement than CD's and MP3's.

Soon their will be no Analog Radio and everyone will be forced to upgrade to digital receivers... it's a good thing I guess.. but still it is being forced on us.

Radio sucks now days so I guess that doesn't matter...

most MP3s sold now through Amazon and ITunes are 256 Kbps....just as good as a CD and most people without much tech know-how rip songs at 128, sometimes 192 anyway. 192 is just fine for me.

If im deciding to buy a whole album, I go for the physical cd. When it comes to single tracks its mp3. When portability is concerned, its IPod all day. Just get a deck with audio input and your set.

I ripped all my shit to my computer but i got all my originals stacked away
