I've been fucking with Rhapsody for a few days, completely sold on it. Unlimited music for the price of one disc, and it's legit. Done deal.

Its going to be like most other industries and head towards being completley digitized. Few people make "Albums" anymore, they make a single that can get sold on iTunes or whatever, and fill the rest with anything. An album is an entire idea or a experience from begining to end. But why take the time to put out a full thought when you can go "YOOOOOUUU!!!!" and sell half a billion downloads? And with the availability of mp3 technology rising, that eventually will be the platform for most media, eventually Ipod docks will come standard on every car.

nothing personal....

I actually got a Portable MP3 player....

I don't see much new music I like, but I would buy a CD before I would buy an MP3 just because it feels better and I can always Rip MP3's from a CD.

im not really asking you guys individually if you prefer to buy an album or an mp3

but rather im trying to discuss the reality of the record labels selling a format of music that is disappearing

Formats will always change, I think all digital is inevitable. Shit you can put out an album and not have to worry about waiting to get it pressed. You would probably be able to sell songs as you make them, drop a dope track, put it online for sale instantly instead of waiting for it to be featured on a hard copy to be released 2 years later after hella delays.

Not everyone has an MP3 Player... just like when CD's came out a lot of people still had Cassette Players so labels sold Cassettes and before that 8 Tracks.. I doubt you will see a new release on Cassette or 8 Track.

Same deal with DVD and VHS...

eventually the CD may go away but not anytime soon... I would be more concerned with the Digital Radio and Television movement than CD's and MP3's.

Soon their will be no Analog Radio and everyone will be forced to upgrade to digital receivers... it's a good thing I guess.. but still it is being forced on us.

Radio sucks now days so I guess that doesn't matter...

I still prefer to have a cd then transfer to my ipizzle.

cd companies are wasting with cds but the $ must still be there 16 bux a cd or 1 dollar a song. sum people (older people) don't have mp3 players. so I guess as long as they still can make money doing both . the cd is here to stay for now. I give it 5 more years b4 its all mp3.
