it's like a damn curse in the bay right now, i aint heard any "new" cat come with anything original to say whatsoever, everything being made out here right now sounds like a bunch of shit recycled over and over from the late 90's...only thing that will blow cats up is originality and bay cats are lacking that shit SO MUCH right now, damn...constantly talkin bout the same exact shit with the same types of flows... :ermm:

oh and the goddamn beats, how could i forget to mention the beats. cats in places like new york are making musical masterpieces while rappers out here are droppin singles with some shit that sounds like a nintendo game remixed in fruity loops with some drum kicks. the whole country is laughing at our shit right now so somebody needs to step this shit up cuz i know it aint me, someone needs to break free from this horrible slump...

omg, i'm sure 40 probably came tight but i couldnt even make it that far. ouch. that shit sounds like some drugged out crackhead music or something. i thought i was on shrooms or somethin listening to that lol...hella annoying sounds and shit...

and as far as fruityloops goes, i used to make beats with that shit since like 97 and i basically experimented with everything on the program and it cant do what mpc's and all that tight shit can do. but whatever, its not like i can win the argument that a lot of bay shit is wack right now in a bay area rap forum lol. i've been a bay supporter my whole life i'm just being honest now though thats all. i'm hearin new york cats drop tighter shit and back in the day that used to hurt. now i'm just over it like its obvious.

Who are you referring to when you say New York artists are comin more original? Im not sayin I disagree with your posts but IMO rap music in general isnt as original anymore..originality in rap isn't a demand for most people, just turn on MTV.

i'm not even trying to name names cuz i dont want to get in the usual pissing contest on here and shit. basically my point is i've peeped out some artists here and there from the bay that are supposed to be new or whatever, and even some new joints from established artists, and it's still just the same lame shit that i dont see getting picked up by huge major labels and shit. i think if artists just make music from within themselves and how they want to express themselves they will be successful instead of staying in the "what's cool right now" mode and trying to be like everyone else...

Are you fuckin stupid? This whole hyphy/go dumb culture we got out here is original as fuck. Aint nobody talkin like we talk, dancin how we dance, or doin what we do. So how is it that the Bay aint original. Thats the main thing we known for. But I guess we should be like everybodyu else and start rappin bout bling and the latest designer fabrics and shit huh. Is that what you call original?

I smell a fuckin imposter real talk. You cant be from the Bay and type the shit you type all the time. All you do is hate.

what the fuck is "original" anyway? who cares?

like the music u like and thats it. how about people making music without a message? what happened to that? rap changes every day, think about like, 4 years ago, and tell me the top 10 rappers in hip hop back then. originality is hard to come by.

The only artist in the bay with an original sound is Nick Peace, hes one of my favorite producers. . .but High Powered showcased some weak ass rappers from the bay, Peace doesn't need to fuck with rappers like Smoov-E it just ain't helpin him.

yea i'm such a hater. i am filled with hatred. lol, wtf are you talking about. oh and i'll let you in on a little secret...the whole lil "hyphy" culture isn't going anywhere. it's horrible and annoying. only people feeling that shit are ignorant ass kids who swing donuts hanging out the windows like some idiots. that hyphy shit aint music, it's annoying ass noise to jump around to when you're drunk and on drugs so that you can add to the crime rate. and as far as hyphy being original, ok i can give you that. but now what? it's stuck in one spot. now everyone's just trying to "go dumb" lol.

How can you say he's the only one? IMO most of the cats who are comin with more originality are usually slept on or not known of

How do we talk?
Im talkin bout our slang cuzzo. And When I say the Bay is original I mean compared to every other region its original. Of course most of the rappers in the Bay are gonna use the same slang and concepts because they livin Bay life. Thats the case in every region. All the new york cats sound the same and use the same slang and concept etc...But does anybody else sound the way new york cats do? No, and that goes for the south, midwest, and the westcoast. We all original in what we do but individually in each region everybody pretty much does the same thing.

it's not that Bay rappers all copy each other... it's just a particular sound that comes from a certain area

you could say the same thing about Eastcoast rap... and definitely about down South shit... but that's just how it is anywhere

and I think Bay Area music has adopted a new type of sound recently... the beats and style of rappin now is something that hasn't really been done before

the Bay has moved away from the typical westcoast sound... and adopted an original style of its own... I think the music comin out of here lately has been sick

but we all have opinions

dood, u dont have to make every post slightly racist. u sound like ur 80...this fad'll die out or whatever, and if u aint feelin it, u aint feelin it. but i remember people sayin "hyphy" wasnt gettin played outside the bay...well i heard it in chico, san luis obispo, san diego, and anaheim...and mostly by white kids who i know dont listen to much bay music, but they were playin that. some people are feeling it, and there are different sounds. like i said, it'll die down at some point, but thats whats hot right now, and as much as people say that its flooding the bay, right now is some of the best music the bay has put out.

san quinn, cougnut, mac dre,e-40,fully loaded, tha gambalaz the list can go on.

ok, i was talkin about mainstream shit, as in the TOP RAPPERS, but i guess i should have specified. anyway, i can still use some of those as examples.

Cougnut? when was he hot? with IMP? dont get me wrong, dood was fire on everything he was, but he's not really talked about anymore in terms of music, RIP...

Mac Dre? does anyone remember how much everyone HATED on the shit he put out?

E-40? people are still complaining a bout him.

everyone talks about fully loaded's NEXT album, or their SOLO albums.

tha gamblaz were NOT at the top.

anyway, my point is that originality is really hard to find and define in hip hop because hip hop is ALWAYS changing and looking for new trends.

dont pull that racist shit cuz it has nothing to do with a race. it has to do with music. i'm talking about the hyphy culture not a race. look at mac dre for example, he kinda got wrapped up in that hyphy shit lately but he was still an original creative ass muthafucka for real. look at the jacka, he's kinda up in the whole hyphy atmosphere and shit but listen to his new album, that shit actually sounds like music. its just hard for me to get my thoughts out on here clearly without hella people jumpin all over me simply because my opinion might have a negative tone.
