^^i agree...i was lovin slim shady lp when it came out, which made me check out his underground cd's, which i also thought were cool...but he's gone progressively downhill since then. he still shows flashes of brilliance IMO, but i just wasn't feeling this last cd. however, if he is truly retiring from rap, it's a shame...the man's a genius, regardless of what many folks say on here, if he really put some effort into his shit again, i bet you he could come with some heat.

I agree...his style is cool, but that nasal, b-real voice is annoying for more than 16 bars...he's creative as fuck, and can flow for days...he's got that mastered...now he can work on that monotoneus (sp?) sounding production of his. GET SOME MORE SOUNDS EM!! I got a homie @ Guitar Center that will hook you up with sound cards..just holla...LOL. The real money is in production & label ownership anyways.
peace

LoL @ "The Real Money"
Didnt he make the most money of any entertainer a couple years ago?

Damn Hatred is thick in this thread, give the man his dues. I'll agree his last album sucked but his first 3 major releases were pretty damn good in my opinion. I really think he did run out of material though and I think Em has gotten too old to do the whole SLim SHady thing. Hes a decient producer though, the tracks he did for The Eminem Show were really good but his shit got hella repetitive though on all the G-Unit albums he did production for. I think Em should just stick to running his label and putting new acts out, he found a golden goose in 50 Cent I bet he can do it again.

its funny how you can say hatred is thick in this thread, then follow it up by stating something that was "in my opinion",isnt ours "in our opinion" also?....just as you are entitled to think they were good,we are entitled to think they sucked ass,no hate involved,it just goes both ways, even though it might be hard to believe cause he might be your favorite rapper

An insider also stated that Eminem has grown weary of the spotlight and was struggling writing as “Eminem.”
I found this part of the press release interesting. So he is struggling to write as "Eminem." He is prob. going to start going by Marshall Mathers or some other AKA and change his subject matter and/or style up. I don't know. It's just my guess seeing that they said he was struggling writing as "Eminem" and not in general.

Plus why in the hell would you retire when you are one of the top in the game...album sales wise that is.

Just my two cents.

Not that I really care because I am not really a fan of his music. He has some dope freestyles and some clever lines here and there but could he could never hold my interest.

HAHAHA at all you ppl that hate Em soo much well he's still in the house.

Only days after gossip spread that Eminem was retiring, the lyricist dismissed the reports during a recent concert in Washington...

A recent article in the Detroit Free Press stated that Em was set to retire following a concert in Dublin, Ireland on September 17th. Supposedly, last year's Encore was scheduled to be Slim's last release as he readies to focus on production rather than rap. However, Em addressed the retirement rumors during his Anger Management 3 set at Washington's White River Amphitheatre.

"How many of you all read the tabloids? Cause there's some sh!t goin' around that I'm retiring," Em told the crowd.

Slim then noted that the article next to the retirement story was a piece about the moon "to blow up today." He then added, "I'm retiring? then I guess the moon just blew up" before mooning the crowd. Em added that if he ever retired and decided to come back his new stage name would be "Rain Man."

Meanwhile, his publicist, Dennis Dennehy, denied that Eminem had any plans to call it quits.

"Basically MTV made an inference," Dennehy told SOHH.com. "The statement is that 'Encore' is the close of the first chapter of Eminem's career. Beyond that, no decisions have been made."
