Eminem is a pop artist
really? so just because your liked by most your a pop artist? whats jay-z? cause according to my calculations he does alot more pop shit in one album than em did his entire career.

He doesnt rep hip-hop anymore
really how so? he just signed one of the rawest and freshest rap group in the game right now and he's been doing nothing short of tearing all these "best rappers alive" apart on there features. or have you not been listening?

I highly highly HIGHLY!!! doubt that Slaughterhouse will have anything to do with Shady
really? so thats why they signed to shady record, so they wouldnt have to deal with the label, are you fucking high or have you been listening to there new shit, they been repping shady like it's there momma there talking about, they all seemed real excited to be on the label and it shows.

"Who's the most popular pop artist's out right now, Paul?"

"Rihanna, Lil Wayne, and Pink."

"Ok, get them on the phone. I'm gonna put them on my next album."

These features ARE a joke compared to what you'd think a sick album would feature.

I don't like Rihanna's shit. I didn't like the bitch when she used a beat with a Tears for Fears sample.

Pink I'd like to fuck, but I don't listen to most of her songs. I just wannt fuck her.

And Lil Wayne is number one on everybody's list for a feature. He somehow has become deified in the pop world.
dude 2 of the artist you named prolly wont even be a feature but just a hook, and lil wayne and him prolly had something worked out where they go on each other's album and IMO it's just another way to outshine the supposed best rapper out there in lil wayne. only reason why most hiphop artist dont have rihanna and pink on there shit is cause they cant afford them but Em obviously dont have that problem and it will prolly get more people to attract to this album. i mean shit Joell ortiz was on a bonus song with rihanna so does that make him a pop artist? no. so this album is gonna have 1 feature so IMO that makes for a great album for eminem to tear up. and IMO pink is a very very good song writer and is very real so i can see why em would want her on something. people are just tripping on a damn tracklist for no reason whatsoever

You won't be talking me out of my opinion until I pop the cd in and hear the aforementioned songs. It better be the hardest shit I've ever heard or else I'm off the Em bandwagon again.

Probably because he has the ability to do a lot for the hip-hop community with the money, and status he's obtained in the industry... but I haven't really seen too much of it to be honest... He seems like another industry puppet... which is fine, if you enjoy that type of music...
What would you like Eminem to do for the hip hop community, other than drop the 2 (or 3) classic albums he already has? Should he be out handing money to every half-talented underground artist you love? Maybe consider this- dude has his own life, his own family and his own problems to deal with. You want him to put in 20 hours a week talking about how mainstream hip hop sucks and what we should do to weed out what sells? Eminem doesn't have any control over what makes money and what doesn't.

How is he an "industry puppet", when his first 3 albums were basically "fuck the industry and artists it has in it, I'm going to hold down what I feel is real hip hop"??? Eminem doesn't do any features on anybody's tracks or produce a track just for a dollar. His first few albums and movie got him all the cash he needs. He did Drop The World because he likes Lil Wayne and the rock type shit, he produced Renegades because he likes Jay-Z. He don't give a fuck about your opinion when he does his music.

He was rapping about "do you think I give a fuck about a grammy? fuck the backstreet boys, fuck n sync, fuck christina aguilara, fuck britney spears, fuck the source, fuck XXL" the moment they gave him the mic and some airtime on MTV. Those were all what was POP when he came in. Then he had that line on Til' I Collapse where he said "I'm at the end of my wits with half the shit that gets in" basically saying he hates the state of hip hop as much as you do. Show up to Em's place in the Hills and I doubt he's bumping the stanky leg.

For you to call him an "industry puppet" is one of the most ignorant statements about hip hop I've ever heard. That's like saying Snoop smokes weed to keep up his image. Nah man, the motherfucker just likes to stay high.

...as for everybody bitching about not having a Slaughterhouse feature- maybe Em will be featured on the next Slaughterhouse album. It makes more sense for a rap group to feature one artist than for one artist to feature an entire group. Everybody bitching about wanting another Infinite/Slim Shady LP/Marshall Mathers LP/Eminem Show, go listen to that shit.

I'm excited for this album. I prefer the Hart Plaza cover as well, I think its cool artwork. Represents the city. I wasn't excited for Encore, Relapse, or Relapse Refill. There's a few cuts from Relapse I like, but for the most part I don't listen to the past 3 albums dude dropped. That being said, I love Em's first 4 albums. I'm looking forward to this upcoming album considering his flow is sort of back where it used to be.

Well let me say this, he does own his own record label, so he does want, and have the ability to put on emcee's that have talent... I'd say Shady Records has been an overall failure though, aside for Eminem's projects (D12, and production credits)...

And I stand by calling him being an industry puppet... there's nothing you can really say to sway me from that... He didn't work with Wayne because he liked him... He worked with him because Wayne probably dropped the one million dollar collab price that TI did... He's not the most popular emcee because he's the best, it's because it's perceived that he's the best, by the majority... It's been shoved down our throats for years, by every entertainment medium available... If that isn't the industry, I don't know what is...

he signed slaughterhouse.... that basically kills your argument right there

and he is one of the best emcees... I say that and I listen to every kind of hip hop out there... from underground to mainstream, east, west coast, down south, mid west... whatever...

if you wanna talk about punchlines/wordplay/and metaphors and shit he's not the best... but I don't know any rapper who can come up with a flow/delivery/rhyme scheme combination that rides the beat so perfectly the way Em does it... when it comes to that technical aspect of it, Em is better than anyone IMO

granted, that's when he's on top of his shit and really focused... he had a stretch where he was putting out bullshit... Encore was terrible... Relapse was a good album, but def not his best work

please don't give em this bullshit about the industry is force feeding Eminem's music to us... and we say he's the best because they tell us he is

I form my own opinion... and I think he is one of the best... if not THE best rapper out there

and you're saying why he worked with Wayne... you have no idea why he worked with Wayne... did Eminem tell you the reason why??? maybe he does like Wayne's music... don't assume you know everything

and even if he DID work with him for money??? who the fuck cares??? that's his job... it's a business...

big name rappers work with big name rappers....

remember when he said this

"Now because of this blonde mop that's on top
and this fucked up head that I've got, I've gone pop?
The underground just spunned around and did a 360
Now these kids diss me and act like some big sissies
"Oh, he just did some shit with Missy,
so now he thinks he's too big to do some shit with MC Get-Bizzy""

^ he's talkin about people like you

It better be the hardest shit I've ever heard or else I'm off the Em bandwagon again.
that logic makes no sense

why does it have to be the hardest shit you've heard in your life?

what if it's just the hardest shit you've heard in 6 months??? then will you still hop off the Em bandwagon??

First I want to say, I respect your opinion... I too listen to a lot of hip-hop, mainly underground, but some mainstream as well...

The Slaughterhouse deal isn't done though, so no... they are still not signed to Shady Records... as of right now...

And on your last point about big name rappers only working with other big names... my question is... why? Why does someone in his position have to work with someone of the same status in the industry? Why wouldn't it be based off of ability and mutual respect, like in any other form of art? That's what he claims to be right... an artist?

Would you expect a better verse from Em if he is spittin with Wayne or someone like Royce or Crooked I? There has been much talk of how Royce brings out the best in Em... I think we all would have enjoyed a Bad Meets Evil part 2.

I don't get why people are wanting one particular style of ems.

Like " I want him to spit some shit like MM LP", Or "I want slim shady LP style back".

He's already done that and is moving on, would you rather have him do the same style over and over? He has defiantly matured as an artist and I think this album is going to prove it.

to be fair he didn't say big name rappers only work with other big name rappers. He merely stated that they do work together. I'm sure if there was someone up and coming who could spit and em digged their music and they wanted to collab with them he would.

Man I can strongly bet ya Slaughterhouse signin wit Shady is all just a load of hype however we still dont know if this is gonna pan out in the end cuz after a listload of artists who were signed to Aftermath & Shady never dropped an album & got left in the corner with his album shelved half-complete so let it be known......

...and I dont give even two shits of what ya think but Em is more of a lyrical pop artist to me yes he is a good lyricist; he nails alotta tracks lyrically I cant deny it; its just I dont like his mainstream popish appeal & he gets so carried away with his humor that its annoying to me along with his annoying voice & what I meant about him not supporting or repping hip-hop enough I meant he aint givin back to the underground side of hip-hop where he started from naw mean??? Like I would love to see him collab with other artists like Tech N9ne, Brotha Lynch, E-40, Mitchy Slick, Kool Keith, Atmosphere, & all of them but he aint at all lookin outside the box so thats why I felt that he doesnt rep hip-hop that much & lots of rappers are influenced & look up to him both integrity & successwise & more so but whats totally lackin in him is his vision; he doesnt have a vision at all... To me he aint a hip-hop philospher like 2-Pac & what I like about Pac was that he had a great vision that lots of artists were lackin at the time & today all cuz he loves hip-hop & he was a reel true fan not just a rapper himself; he was a great networkin artist embarking a movement & he worked with tons of people from all regions thats another reason why he became the most prolific & influencial rapper & everyone at that time looked up to that they reach out to him just to collab; everyone from E-40 to Bone Thugs to Mc Breed & I wish Em can do that but hes resistant to do it cuz he does what he thinks its hot like all the other rappers on top do & dont give a fuck about other artists especially those who are influenced by him so that made me think about him along with Dre & Cube that they dont play the position that Pac did & I look & clearly see thru Em is not a true hip-hop artist based on his type of music whether its considered either hip-hop or "hip-pop" Just my two pennies.. Anyone are entitled to disagree wit me but thats how I clearly look at it......

i never been on the eminem bandwagon ever but i gotta give him credit he def can hang with anybody bar for bar and he is one the top 5 best rappers of all times. he dont even have to drop another solid album or album at all to be in the top bc he already proved himself.
