he was 1-2 fights away from fighting Pacquiao. He signed to Top Rank with the guarantee of fighting Pac.

I think his style would have certainly favored Pac, but hell, those 4-6 rounds would have been pure nonstop awesomeness.

I used to rock his sig on here a lot (with the Hugo Chavez shorts) and he was my favorite rising star. But damn, unbelievable meltdown. Never seen anything like it in my life. Literally spiraled out of control from potential crossover star to murderer to suicide in what seemed like just days or hours.

Antillon is a good fighter and Valero was just toying with him.

Cocaine is a helluva drug...
that and myself and others have always wondered/speculated about his head injury from a motorcycle injury years before. There is a lot of scientific evidence that shows serious head trauma + drugs can lead someone into pretty fucked up & dark places.

There are a ton of people who do coke and most people don't murder their wives. Something else was also going on with him which we will never know exactly.

exactly. There has also been a lot of research that shows many or most serial killers have had some type of head trauma (in combination with childhood abuse mental and/or physical). From what I understand Valero had an extremely fucked up childhood very poor, abused, etc.

but who knows

Please let's not Ibeabuchi him. Valero had some quality wins but who knows how things would've panned out when he stepped into the ring with high quality fighters at higher weights (for some reason his fight against Mosquera isn't talked about in high regards even though it's probably the best win of his career). I'd love to have seen his career play out but I'm not gonna sit here and act like he would've given Pacquiao, JMM or anyone else at the top hell because he never got a chance to be in the ring with that class of fighter.

growing up where he grew up, its most likely your gonna have a fucced up past, to deal with the head trauma he's caused from fighting and then the drugs just took over the top for valero
