Editing a pic in photoshop

I have NEVER used PS before, but i need to trim something off of a pic...how in the hell do i do so? Ive tried the "slice" feature but couldnt figure out how to actually "slice" anything. The fuck???

slicing is for something else.. use the eraser tool. or the magic wand tool.. eraser is earier tho.

Its a flyer, and im just trying to trim off the "coming (date)" so its appears to be an album cover for iTunes. SO i basically want to cut the bottom 1/4 of the pic.

do this.. use the selection tool its at the top left on the toolbar, look at the pic below

then once u have selected the area you wanna trim.. just press the delete button above the arrows on your keyboard.

just worry about the selection tool.. nothing else that is circled in the pic

thats one of the ways you can do it.
