That sums it up

But is is also true that the east fell of the hardest of all regions, you don't hear much good music coming from there, especially from the better known artists

I disagree

IMO the West fell off the hardest except for some tight artists thats still droppin bangers.

Honestly both regions arent like they used to be, the south and midwest music is better nowdays (except the DL brotha snap music)

I dissagree. Actually ALL regions have fell the fuck off in a way but none more then the south. The south may be selling the most units & puttin out more acts right now but they are also puttin out the most garbage music & if ya'll call 80% of them dudes MC's then u should be shot. Some south shit I don't like I can still see why some people may like it but most of that shit is terrible. I grew up on southern music back in the day & it actually meant somthing back then. Them niggas back in the 90's were very serious about their craft & were competing against the east & west who were heavy power houses back then. When the souths hard grinding paid off after so many years that's when the NEW SOUTH came & fucked everything up.

It still easiest to find good music in the south compared to the other regions

everybody has a right to have their own opinion

just because somebody has decided not to listen to what the crowd is parotting and actually sit down, research and think about things and form his own opinion it does not follow that this person is some sort of lunatic who has no idea what he's talking about

Something that has to be said and very well understood:

Good music is not defined by some gold standard such as "ATCQ/Nas/PE-type of thought provoking hip-hop". If all music was like that, hip-hop would be very boring. Good music is music that manages to serve the purpose it was created with, i.e a crunk song is good if it is crunk, whether it contains the whole Oxford dictionary in it is totally irrelevant.

This is why I say that it is still easiest to find good music in the South - because you're typically looking for some crunk club shit with good beats or some dark gangsta shit and these are not at all hard to find. Supreme lyricism is not, but it is not what you would look for in a southern rap record.

P.S. What IMO is the reason why the South is on top is that it somehow manages to reinvent itself over and over again while still keeping the sound distinctively southern. While all other regions started biting the South which is BAD. If you take a look at the not so distant history, you will see that the South was first on top with No Limit and Cash Money in the late 90s, than it lost steam around 2000-2002, but the crunk came out in 2002-2003, it revived and reinvented itself, and did it several more times since than with trap and snap music. In that period nothing else new and fresh came out except for hyphy (which is heavily influenced by southern music, let's face it)...

Perfectly Put!

Fuck what anyone else on here says(most are just bias against other regions(bc they living in the 90's) and some are bias against a artist bc he signed a major recording contract .

The facts are that the south is where the real money is at. Thats why many people artist and regular cats move to the south to start a new life with better opportunities.
