E-40'S MY GHETTO REPORT CARD CERTIFIED GOLD

Tuesday, August 28, 2006 - Burbank, Calif. - My Ghetto Report Card, the current album from the legendary rapper, E-40, has been RIAA certified gold this week.

Anchored by the album's first single "Tell Me When 2 Go," which features rapper Keak Da Sneak, My Ghetto Report Card (Reprise/BME/Sick Wid It Records) debuted at #1 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Charts (#3 on Billboard 200 Chart). The "Yay Area" native teamed with BME Recordings' head Lil' Jon, who executive produced the CD (also features production by Lil Jon, Rick Rock, E-40's son Droop-e of the Pharmasuticles, mainstay Bosko, and Studio Tone with guest features by Mike Jones, T. Pain, Keak Da Sneak, Turf Talk, Juelz Santana, B-Legit, The Federation, 8Ball, and UGK).

The video for the current single, "U And Dat," featuring T-Pain and Kandi Girl, is currently on high rotation at BET, MTV and Fuse.

E-40 will release a new DVD (August 29, 2006), entitled E-40 & The Hype of Hyphy, featuring videos "U And Dat" and "Tell Me When To Go," a behind the scenes look at the making of those videos, and the Hype of Hyphy special, which takes viewers inside the movement and features special appearances by Federation and B-Legit, among others.

"E-40 acts as ringmaster with slick wordplay, street smarts and sly humor. He has long been at the head of his class; now he's graduating to the next level," raves Steve Jones in USA Today, while San Francisco Weekly's Tamara Palmer says, "My Ghetto Report Card will go down in history as the album that helped Bay Area hip hop reclaim its place on the national stage." Congratulations to 40-Bellafonte, 40-water, E-fizzle, Fonzarelli, Mr. Flamboyant, The Ambassador Of The Bay - E-40.

haha okay, so i suppose anyone could go gold if they pressed 500,000 copies of their record, and then shoved that shit into record stores nationwide, huh?

i think i'll go to discmakers right now and press 500,000 copies of a CD thats 79 minutes and 54 seconds worth of beeps, honks, and blips, and then have them sent to various chain stores... i won't sell shit, but at least i'll have a nifty little RIAA gold certification plaque hanging off my rumpus room wall!

and why in the fuck would i need to know about the "industry" ? explain to me, to the best of your ability, why such random ass trivial knowledge would benefit me?

He didn't SELL 500,000 until about a month ago....the RIAA has nothing to do with soundscan numbers. Its all good though, its still any accomplishment. There were other people that made a lot more money from their music but won't see 500,000.....funny how this industry works these days

Well...the retailers will only order copies from you if they expect to sell them. From an artist's/record label's perspective, it's more important how much you ship because thats what gets you album money. However, those need to be sold to consumers for the retailers to re-stock.

From my perspective as a fan, I'm more interested in how much they sell rather than how much they ship, so I think selling 500k is a bigger accomplishment than getting the gold plaque. Oh yeah..and fuck the RIAA.

Me personally i'm more interested in the quality of the music, i could give a shit how many copies they cell. 50 sells 3-5 million every time out, he still makes trash music, IMO. to quote Immortal Technique:

If you go platinum, it has nothin to do with luck
it just means a million people are stupid as fuck

ras kass has never sniffed platinum, i dont know if he's even went gold. does that make chingy, jeezy, or lil flip better rappers than him? to some people, maybe, it jus shows me that their aren't too many enlightened hip hop fans in the main stream.
