I deleted my previous post prior to seeing this because I knew folks would be sensitive & take it as I'm all over-the-top about 40's cover.
But in response to your statement...I'm not salty & I'm VERY calm & I don't need anyone to tell me I need to be calm. This is the I-N-T-E-R-N-E-T mayn, the land of misinterpretation, I'm sure you've experienced it.
Why didn't the GI CD make bank? Why are you asking me? Ask T1, that's his project. & I would expect you being an aspiring artist FROM the Bay to know that this game is tough on the indy level out here anyway...so yeah...your question did not come off as honest but I'm the type of nigga to sweep it under the rug & move on with a Coke & a smile.
MOE!... Even the biggest idiot in the game should have a grasp in regards to marketing via COMMON SENSE. I'm no marketing guru but I know damn well that a visual image is important...why else would people pay a graphic designer to flip they shit?
Put it this way...if & when you release a CD would you put it on the shelf with a dull ass cover? C'mon mayn, I'm sure you already knowin! I'm sure you are well aware that a visual image is an integral part of this game & when you are an indy label it may be even more important but it is still a huge part of the majors game too.

I just can't see this shit about it gone hold back his game? Yeah if the cover is on some non hip-hop trip people won't check it like they should (land of da lost and lockdown is good Bay rap examples) but just cos cuzzin aint got graffix jumpin off all over the place I don't see how that going to stop his music from hittin.

Whether you like Jay-Z or not he is light years ahead of 40 in record sales & has worldwide recognition so he CAN do that & get away with it. Obviously 40 has yet to get what he deserves from any audience other than the west coast (for the most part) so YEAH...he STILL needs to have a tight image. Think about life outside of the Bay Area & you'll see what I'm talkin' about.
