I've given the music up (for the most part) and converted to an aspiring stand-up comedian... I've always done both, but people only knew about the rap outside of my crazy antics here on the siccness. When it came to progress out of the two, comedy was the illest thing to do, but music was more less a struggle when it came to getting tracks done, beats and time due to me being in college.
Not that most of you all care to hear about this, but sooner or later someone will ask, "Yo MasZive what happened to the music?" When I compare comedy and rap, I've worked with some of the biggest names in comedy, from Katt Williams, to Bill Burr, Mike Epps and Joe Torry. Compare that to the rap game and those names should be Jay-Z, Eminem, E-40 and Too-$hort, but I've never worked along side those cats. Not that I didnt want to work to get on that level, but for the time that I had it would've been 20 years before I shared the stage with them period.
But... There's always a but, due to me being a comedian/ event host... I have opened for big names but only through comedy. I've opened for Lyfe Jennings, Lil' Jon, Bobby Valentino (Almost fought him), Whoodini, D4L, Twista shit on and on... So I came to the conclusion, all you have to be is funny and not necessarily have a big name to be respected in the industry, but as a rapper, you can be dressed in sterling silver chains, sunglasses and a 3XL T-shirt and be looked at like a wannabe with no love or applause from the crowd... I have found my calling! For those of you that have hung out with me know I get ridiculous, but on stage its even crazier.
I made it my business to call myself the Kansas City Comedy King because I show up to these spots and blow the hinges off, then the natives of the spots start to become haters and dont try to show me love, but I've already proven that these niggas fear me here in the town that's why they aint tryna get me on shows with them... The difference between me and them is I've left KC to do shows, they still local and doing shows for free, so why hate...
Wish me the best of luck yall... I've got a great idea and I know yall gonna be down for it, well those of you in the town. Lets just say it involves acting in front of a camera. My alter ego stage name is Bobby Johnson, I'll explain all that later, some of you may have caught on to it, some not.
