A gang member has been accused of raping his cell mate on three different nights in the Pierce County Jail in Tacoma.
The Associated Press
TACOMA, Wash. — A gang member has been accused of raping his cell mate on three different nights in the Pierce County Jail in Tacoma.
The News Tribune reports not guilty pleas were entered Wednesday for 38-year-old Andre L. Bonds.
Court records say Bonds, who is 6-foot-5 and weighs 230 pounds, threatened to beat the 6-foot, 160-pound cellmate if he resisted.
The cellmate had been jailed in April on a drunken driving charge.
Bonds was awaiting charges in the crackdown on the Hilltop Crips street gang in Tacoma. He pleaded guilty to riot and conspiracy to commit a drive-by shooting and was sentenced to five years in prison.
The rape allegations came to light in May when the cellmate was interviewed by Western State Hospital staffers.
