I know a couple of you already have it, but I just got home from work and can finally post it up for the siccness peeps who are waiting for this.

Mixed feelings all around about the single - thats how it is with most people on the tool forums right now. Overall, its a badass song. I just dont know what to expect on the rest of the cd though - Maynard's vocals in this are definitely different.. sort of less tool'ish than id expect.

But still, it fucking rocks.. i cant wait for the rest...

Okay...first off I think the song is sick as fuck.

But is it just me or does the song have more of an A Perfect Circle feel too it?

Plus Maynard's voice seems to be pretty raspy...maybe it's just the style on the song because Maynard does switch around his vocals alot. He didn't really hit any of those deep Maynard type notes on the song though. The lyrics too the song I have to say though are fucking top notch. You can tell Maynard (Tool as a whole) got alot of stuff vented up about what's going on these days that they want to get off their chests.

It really got me wanting to check out the album though. Now more then before.

After one listen, I think the song is amazing.....I wish MJK would have belted out some harder vocals but it sounds like some vintage TOOL and now I really can't fuckin' wait for the album......

I was browsing wikipedia (which I might add I do all too much) and found this bit of interesting info.

"As Keenan explains on commentary on aMOTION, his mother suffered a stroke that left her in partially paralyzed and wheelchair-bound. The length of time between her paralysis and her death was 27 years, or approximately 10,000 days"

So I guess that is the meaning for the name of the album.

and Wow, alright. i didnt know that was the meaning of 10,000. The song "10,000 Days / Wings for Marie pt. 2" is apparently supposed to clearly tell what it means, and i guess that already makes perfect sense since judith marie = maynard's mom.

Weird that they'd center the whole album title around one group member's mom. I mean, I know it IS maynard and hes the biggest person in the group by far.. but still.. thats different than id expect.

I was thinking the same thing Psilo.

I was listening to Vicarious again and the lyrics to the song are so crazy. On wikipedia (which isn't always right) it says the meaning of the song is that people live vicariously through watching television these days. Which make sense with the whole "Cause I need to watch things die... from a distance" part. Plus if you think about television while reading the lyrics it all ties in together IMO.

Plus I just noticed that it is pretty apparent that me, Cranky and Psilo are the only three really going back and forth in this thread lol.

haha yeah, its cool with me though, other people will join in for SURE when they have the chance (aka when the full cd is released), i know more can be shown the real deal with these fools...


& yeah the song is definitely about people needing to watch bad news and accidents on TV while theyre sitting in their house safely. Maynard says "Why can we just admit it?", that made me think a lot.. even though i dont really like watching that kind of shit.. it seems like most of the country does, and its all thats on the news basically.
