it doesn't take a tutorial to be a great photographer - if that was the case there would be a shitload of people having the same photos as him. a lot of these photographers have a good understanding of HDR (the tutorial provides some insight on that aspect but not a whole lot) & shitload of great lighting equipment - you can't get the same quality with just a strobe & softbox or even just an external flash - my advice for other photogs is save up for better Glass & lighting not just a good cam, - theres a bunch of info out there even if you go on google or other photog sites

^^^i definitely agree with you and you actually dont need that great of a lighting system, not high priced anyway....an understanding of how light works is more valuable than anything.....joey l uses an all flash light system...most of the time he doesnt even use strobes, just multiple off camera flashes....this guy is also dope and a friend of mine:

he uses natural light in conjunction with one continuous light and the occasional off cam flash.

i meant more on to acheive that look (dave hill, sacha, joey l, etc...) - i know plenty of great photographers that don't use lighting equipment at all.. but to achieve that look, the right way and straying from using ugly pre set filters..you need a good amount of lighting equipment -

Didnt know you were speaking on achieving that look, thought you meant more in general....but in that case, you're still absolutely right.....lighting is still the main factor in creating that effect
