that's a very hard career to get work in...especially for rap music because everybody wants to uses their own lyrics...no matter how terrible they might sound

instead of selling verses for money directly you should try alternative methods

for example you could team up with a producer to sell beats w/ choruses and/or verses included. if im not mistaken the neptunes do this...but there is always a chance that the rapper picks the beat but uses his own lyrics.

or you could use some kind of bartering...a beat for a song

a lot of times the bigger artists use ghostwritters who they are close with on a personal or ones who have a big resume of hits that they wrote.

just curious....when you sell your verses do you just hand the person a lyric sheet or do you demo it as well?

well... see..... i aint trying to GET MY SHIT HEARD....... i can do that...... i know FAMOUS emcees that will take shit if i give it to em for free...... but i think they are afraid ill say something..... so im trying to let dudes know that they can trust me..... but they see that i also rap & know how competitive shit gets & they think i might open my mouth to get me name out on their songs with my lyrics.......

i dunno........ real frustrating...... i mean, it seems like its either cool with them if u do 1 or the other.... but not both.

i usually am in the studio with them...... & i say like..... SAY THIS PART LIKE THIS.......

the thing is.... when i ghost write..... im not scared to get creative & sound like an idiot...... KINDA SING THIS PART...... etc.....

but on my own shit..... i dont want ANYTHING seeming corney..... so i dont experiement as much...... sucks & im trying to get over it......

anyway...... i either usually send them a track with the lyrics & me rapping on it....... or im in the studio with them.

the way it started off was.... i was doing a collaboration track with a rapper from watts.... who will remain nameless..... i spit my shit& he did his & his verse just lost its throttle...... dudes verse wasnt up to par..... no multis.... dude sounded like he rapped in fucking 1983 with Whodini....HAHA!.... he origanlly asked me to help him write the verse....... only shit he wrote was the opening line.....then, after that..... i showed people the joint..... & was like, YEAH..... I WROTE HIS PART TOO..... & it went on from there....... more dudes started asking..... ive done, probably about 6 different rappers (all no-names).... on probably 20 occasions.

^^^^damn slowpoke....just like the last piece of chicken @ homestyle buffet...u beat me to it.

I advise putting an entertainment lawyer on retainer, or hiring a publisist.

Create a portfolio of your work and GET OUT THERE & NETWORK!!!

Hit any & all music conventions, talent shows, etc. Go to the MAGIC Convention in Vegas in August. There is ALWAYS alot of people from the industry there networking.

Shit..go find you a has been with a familiar name, write him/her some hot shit, and put them (and yourself ) back on the map.
