People try to stereotype areas an be like thats the music they make, crunk, hyphy, whatever! I think what makes us different is that we are the BAY! A melting pot of different people an races. Thats not really like that once u leave the bay. We have so much diversity in our music from backpack 2 gangsta rap u could never just put us in 1 catagory! Hyphy is hot it should give everybody some shine it's all what u do with it!
Good question. The Bay will be stereotyped. That what the media does. It gives you a slice of the whole picture. Just look at what gangsta rap did to Compton. There are families in Compton, black businesses and things But a lot of people thinks compton is all about gang banging, dope dealing and killing.
The ambassador, E-40, who is ushering in the "Hyphy" movement started out doing "Mob" music over Studio Ton mob beats, and had off the hook lyrical content. Lyrically, Quinns been killin it for years, but Live and Direct is still under the radar nationally. I guess all the lemmings that are buying up CDs don't want to have to think too much about their music.
I think giving the emergence of the Bay a name was a stupid idea. Theres no reason to name the damn thing, cause now people think that every rapper from the Bay is a hyphy rapper when that aint true at all. People look at it as kind of a joke. I think they should have just let the beats and the raps speak for themselves. I live in AZ right now and Ive been slappin Bay shit forever. I promote to everyone I know down here. Ive converted almost every person I know to Bay rap, but now some folks are startin to think its stupid because of this Hyphy movement.

the bay, like the gs warriors, has been in a mainstream drought for about 12 years... no one in the nation has been recognizin the bay for any of the hip hop music weve produced... we finally develop a style of music that gets us recognized and people start bitchin and complaining.
yeah, maybe it doesnt represent the bay entirely because there are legitimate nonhyphy rappers in the bay, but when all this hyphy shit passes... "the doors open mayne"... all bay rappers gotta do now is step thru it.. once that happens, the world will see the different sides of the bay and not make it completely synonymous with hyphy, just another word to describe the bay.

BUT they also developed other artists like Young Jeezy who a diff type of music. so since u bitches dont like reading essays and shit, bottom line...
