do you think mixtapes should be mixed and mastered?

Not really..its jus a mixtape.

I mean if you get really big doin it ya might wanna be ahead of the game n give the people sumthin nice.

I guess its all circumstantial..

Yes I do. If you are stamping your name on ANYTHING it should be as quality as possible. Our mixtapes arent the $1000 mastering or mixed at the big studio but we do our best with our facilities and let our REAL projects big mixed and mastered at the better spots. There are different levels of quality but there should always be SOME quality control...

i notice some artists have mentioned mixing and mastering their mixtapes.

i always thought mixtapes were supposed to have that un-mixed sound. I look at the format as a chance to show your raw talent without all the post-recording work.

do you think street albums should be mixed and mastered?

fuck yeah they should mastered. Y would anybody want some half ass shit bumpin in theyre rides. DJ drops shouldnt be there either. DJ's should just should just shut up,make beats, mix and scratch. thats it.

On the whole mixtapes is a bad idea in itself. When rappers go away from mixtapes they'll see better sales. Dont make any sense to have your best songs unmixed with voiceovers and dilutes your ability to spread music through clubs/DJs.
