they do.. you just gotta find the djs, and supply them with vinle.. and if your shit is good, theyll mix it in to the mixshows... if it gets enough requests, and you have a good relationship with the md/pd's of the stations, then you can probably get it into rotation.. but remember.. theres alot of politics involved... its not even as simple as i just wrote, but thats the jist of it...
but your competing with major record lable insiders, whos job it is to maintain good relationships with the stations, supply them with advanced copies of singles, promo materials, and good personal relationships too.. cause who wants to do business with some one they dont like?? it happens alot, and theres a fakeness/false friendships when it comes to this business... even with all that, im just barely scratchin the surface.... so dont think that you can send them a cd-r, and theyll just play your shit the day after they get it... ive even seen whole press kits complete with bios, pictures cd-s, dvds, and what ever little creative "extra" the manager can think to throw in there(i.e interscope sent out dead roses to represent 50's "the massacre", universal sent out miniature violins for miri ben-ari's release) get thrown in the trash...
im not tellin yall this to scare you, just to let you know that its like a big chess game, some times you wait, but if you rush in, youll almost never get anywhere
