listen to locksmith on "bang it" he killed that first verse...the way he was flippin his words, you just don't hear that from radio singles, let alone bay area artists in general....personally, I don't think messy marv did anything spectacular with his rhyming on get on my hype, he just rapped....so its all based on what the listener takes home...the only lyrics that matter in a "slap" or radio single or anything like that is the lyrics in the hook and how catchy they are

Nobodys checking for lyrical content anymore...its all about the beat.

Plus, the rappers feel like they have to dumb down their lyrics in order to appeal to a larger audience...

lmfao! star potential, yes...the other one ain't even a toss-up, haha

LOL. You're stupid. :) I give niggas the benefit of the doubt. If I don't know what goes on behind the industries closed doors and in these niggas personal lives. Then, I determine if I think a nigga is real or hard from what comes out of his mouth and by his lyrics. There is no denying he's a hustler. There is no denying the nigga has dominated the rap game in recent years. There is no denying the nigga speaks on who ever he feels he wants to speak on. There is no denying the niggas album be hot. Straight up. Anything else would be assumption on my part or he say she say. Feel me.

Man, you niggas make it seem like you have to be Mos Def or Talib Kweli to talk about some real shit. Man, straight up, a lot of niggas just aren't well rounded artists. A lot of niggas can only do or talk about one thing. In addition a lot of these that you are looking for some deep shit from haven't been through anything to tell anything of relavance. Look at everybody's favorite super hero F.A.B. He ain't really cut from the turf. But, now you see this nigga in photos shoots with guns on his waist. Come on man. Rappers really need to step it up. But, this is the shit you niggas go out and buy then, complain because the radio doesn't play and "Real Shit". The radio is only going to pay either what their getting paid to play or what they think people want to hear.

Examples of being real and having major star potential. . . 2Pac/ Jay-Z/ Biggie/ Nas/ Ice Cube/ The Game/ Kanye West/ Scarface/ T.I. / 50 Cent

At Lil' Rebel and every other artist on here. . .Don't worry about the niggas that jump out there before you. If it's meant to be you'll have your season. Stay doing you and when your season comes then, literally change the game. Hyphy is a fad. It will be here and gone before you know it. The truth is forever it never changes. What's real today will be real tomorrow. All of that yada yada boo boo shit these niggas be talking is nonsense. It's not grown man music. But, you have to understand the truth takes longer to be accepted. So, stay patiently waiting to blow. . .Ladies and gentleman I'd like you to get ready for V.Jones.
so TRUE^^^^

i agree with Lil Rebel 100%,why can't there be a hybrid of both? Everyone likes to thizz and go dumb but a lot of cats want to hear what an emcee has to say, show some true prowess on the mic

i agree with your list and would add a few cats, not counting the "backpackers"
