Im startin to listen to all of these songs that you guys say "slap" and im not impressed...

Balance - Gotta Get It is a perfect example cuz lyrically that song is ass but yet its hyped up and now they're makin remixes which is not a good thing

Frontline - Take That is anutha one

Fed - 18 Dummy and a host of other crap on the radio

all of these songs are good to dance to but whats the anticipation about?

my list that i consider to be lyrical seems like its all city rappers so can yall name some others

here's a taste of my list

Quinn
Bailey
Ya Boy
Don Toriano
Messy
Mac Dre
Team
blah blah blah

i think so on certain tracks

if the nigga tryna make a hyphy slap, he gotta say things to make a person get hyphy. charisma is a big part, not lyrics

when he doin a gutta track or a straight spittin track, he should show wut he can do wit the pen.

thats why i try to be as verstyle as possible, i make hyphy slaps and just say wutever it is i feel like sayin, normally, when im throwed, shit comes out dummy. when i do other tracks, its straight lyrical.

yea i almost 100% agree wit that list, i would just take off messy...the production on bandannas and tounge rings was top notch, but the lyrics was mother goose.

u ever heard a J.davinci? you would like that nigga, he from fillmoe too

damn i cant wait for that bailey album, that nigga is RAW.

yeah, those songs you named are supposed to be hyphy-material, not really tooo lyrical or shit that makes you think.

those lyrics aren't the best, but they go with the style of the song..

Better question is do beats even matter anymore..?
Obviously not with this Hyphy shit some of yall get a hard on over...
Good point.

I'm looking to support artists who understand the importance of both. Just cause you from the Bay don't mean you automatically get love with me. You got to step your game up. If all fans demanded the same, artist would be forced to put time and effort into the music.

Personally, I'm feeling Quinn, Bailey and J. Davinci. Maybe its just me, but when I buy an album I need beats and lyrics...

hell na lyrics dont matter

the average rap consumer cant understand a weak punchline or metaphor anyway... they just bob they head to the beat.. and repeat after lines

and for yall who a lil too caught up.. EMCEE = anybody who rhymes over a beat. or hosts/announces a party/show... dont gimme that TRUE MC & REAL HIP HOP internet shit... cuz the first EMCEES wasnt doin shit different from what lil jon does/did "shake ya ass, wave ya hands, side to side, lets get down"

but yeah... most bay area music aint some shit u can sit down and listen to... cuz u aint gonna get shit out of it.. and the older i get is the more i sit down & listen... so yeah
