It's not what you say its how you say it. As long as the metaphores, punchlines, wordplay, multi syllables, etc are there.... i'll listen to it.
That's kind of open, so if an artist is a really good writer or has some really good ghost writers and the content is there but he's WACK AS FUCK you'll listen to it? Because the metaphors are there, and the punchlines and multisyllable rhyme schemes and everything. Man metaphors, punchlines, that shit is all the same to me, when I hear it, it doesn't impress me. I'm impressed by an artist who can write and perform a good ass song, not an artist who can write a witty line, that shit is not intriguing, it's like a comedian trying to be a rapper or vice versa, some people like that shit, I find it annoying. Rappers need to get in where they fit in and stay there.
Me personally if I want to hear that shit, I'll go see a rap battle, or watch some videos online of rappers battling eachother, but to hear that same old stupid diss punchline metaphor shit in a song, is gay as fuck. Wordplay is fine, multisyllable rhymes are fine, aslong as it doesn't sound forced or like some gay shit, rappers are starting to sound like computers or something.
That goes for everything, whether it's some washed up battle rapper trying to make a rap career on records with his washed up sour ass rhymes he regurgitated in the past or some fake ass gangster rapper who raps about how deep in the game he was or still is and how he packs a pistol and is a killer and a drug dealer, 99% of these wack ass rappers would never kill anyone, they fake, so that shit is lame, when you hear them in their tracks talking about this and that but you KNOW they talking out there ass trying to gain some kind of credibility. Shit is LAME and shouldn't be listened to or marketed or any of that shit. I call them trash artists.
So here's my statement.
I like GOOD MUSIC. Period.
Rappers in general rap about too much violence, get more creative with your shit, limiting yourselves, shit's laughable.
