2nd verse from Aesop Rock's Daylight:

I pace me game for zero hour completion greetin' splash
Duke of early retirement, pick a dream, American nightmare hoggin' the screen
--I'll hold the door open so you can stumble in
If you'd stop followin' me 'round the jungle gym.
Now it's Honor and I spell it with the H I stole from Heritage
Merit crutch stolen wretched refuse of my teaming resonance
I promise: temperance towards breed with a leaning conscious
See, the creed acts sense responsive, but my sports supports the wattage, and I'm sleeping now! (Wow!)
Yeah, the settlers laugh,
You won't be laughing when your covered wagons crash!
You won't be laughing when the buzzards drag your brother's flags into rags!
You won't be laughing when your front lawn is spangled with epitaphs! You won't be laughing!
And I'll hang my boots to rest when I'm impressed
So I triple knot 'em and forgot 'em.
This origami dream is beautiful, but man, those wings'll never leave the ground without a feather and a lottery ticket,
Now settle down.

That's poetry or rap.

Saul Willams - Amethyst Rock -The kinda poetry I fuck with.

Remember Me
If I fall victim to tragedy
Sometime soon before I fully bloom

Promise to take care of our family
School my sons to respect their sistas
Teach our queens their ancestry

Lounge with Mama on the weekends
So she never misses her first born son
Ask her to tell my sobrinos a story
A happy one about a basket in Mexico

Always give Fidelito an extra hug
Before he goes to sleep at night
For his Tio who hella misses his laugh

Forget not my words or song
Recite my lyrics on Day of the Dead
Blow bomb and think upon good times
That we spent so long ago
Or so it seems today

Write with my spirit in your pen
Criticize hypocrites and churches
Forget me not in verses
Filled with blasphemy and curses
Regarding the closed mentality of our times
And always remember to rhyme your last two lines

well alot of people who were on the slam poetry hype when it was big say the shit is wack now, but I can't stand alot of slam poetry but I fucks with Saul I still like his shit. I guess it comes to what you like. Some people say Pac is overrated cuz he don't spit like Canibus, but I don't feel Canibus I feel Pac. same thing with Saul.

Brown Sugar

Baby I want to write an r and b song
Because each time my eyes close
I see visions of us unclothed
Between the sheets going wild bumping musiq soulchild
Knocking boots all night
and right when I wake up
I hear songbirds begging me to sing a verse or two about love
Next I hear the phone ring so I think it’s your body calling me
Or maybe Cupid wants to tell me how stupid I look not knowing what to write
I turn off the lights and light a candle
Blowing trees in the summer breeze so I can be cool relax
At night before I close my eyes to sleep
I pray to God to bless me with a tight verse
Or atleast some sweet words
Worthy to speak
In praise of my brown sugar

I'd like to read you a short poem, now if you like my poem I'd appreciate a small donation and if not that I'd just like your honest criticism.

I call this poem "unidentified flying objects"

hark who goes there
a bird, a butterfly, tender raindrops falling
A ROCK , A BRICK, A TIGHTLY CLENCHED FIST
KABANG CRASHED INTO THE UNSUSPECTING BITCHES SKULL
OUCH, GROAN, A BLOOD CURDLING SCREAM
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHH
FINGERS CLAWING AT PIERCING BLUE EYES
ALL THE COLORS OF THE RAINBOW
WHEN ALL I WANTED WAS SOME GREEN
PAIN, AGONY, MISERY, THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS

Yeah I do write poetry, raps too, I feel they are interchangeable. I feel you on the intimate thing. I usually just keep it to myself on here because I know the sicc really doesn't give a fuck for the most part.

Aesop Rock is one of my favorite underground rappers out.
