I dont think Fresh is the "Best" producer but I do think he puts out some of the best albums in the bay. Someone on here had said that he brings out the best in whoever he is working with and that is really true. That actually is the essence of what music "production" is.
One of the things about Tonite Show Cd's and Fresh Albums is that the seem to be considered mixtapes/Street Albums by most people even though they play like albums to me. I think the fact that they are considered street albums or mixtapes kind of take the pressure off and make the artists more free with the songs they do and the material that they rap or freestyle about. They can probley say that was just some "before the album" mixtape shit when 9 times out of 10 that was or is going to be doper then their "Official" album. Official albums in the bay recently havent lived up to their hype and Fresh's low key albums have been consistantly dope for a few years now.

The title is misleading people thinking that Dj Fresh is an all time best producer in the bay.
But i do agree and think he is one of the best in this era. He just has a certain style and sound that no other producers have in their production, so that makes him such a unique and favorite producer. Imo, his beats are just fresh and got soul (Sampling & Non Sampling). Which is probably the reason why so many rappers wanta fux wit him and the whole shabang. Jamon Dru also got tight beats. Point is, Dj Fresh and The whole shabang are doin it big in and from the bay. who cares about who is the best.

So as far as best up and coming producer in the bay I give it 2 Rome aka Slapadelic he'll match Dj Fresh production and some. Listen 2 Black C's Brand Nu or Stay With Me. He shitting on Fresh. Haven't listened to alot of DJ Fresh, but I did like his production on the Sleepy D album though..And don't even get me started about sampling....It's ALWAYS been a part of hiphop music, and will continue to be, so I don't see any point in talking down about a beatmaker for doing it. When it all comes down to it sample or not, if you're beat is good, it is good because of HOW you made it. If it's wack, it's wack because of HOW you made it wack.
