in regard to the IT verse,

It refers to Al Aqsa mosque (al aqsa in arabic translates to 'The Edge')... The Dome of the Rock and Al Aqsa Mosque are located on the Temple Mount, in Jerusalem. Temple mount, aka Solomons Temple was built on Mt. Moriah (the first was destroyed in 586 BCE, and the 2nd one was destroyed in 70 AD, after Herod funded it to supe it up). Anyway, according to the Muslims, Mohommed's horse stopped on where the center of the Dome of the Rock is. Then Mohommed jumped from that point to where the Al Aqsa mosque is, and that is where legend has it that Mohommad ascended towards heaven, hence 'the edge, or Al Aqsa.' The mosque and dome of the rock were built in the 600's I belive... (after the fall of the roman and greeks)... on the holiest of holy sites for the Jews.

Anyway, as the story goes... It is believed during the crusades, that the Knights Templar raided Jerusalem, and dug underneath Al Aqsa Mosque and uncovered (this is where there are numerous conspiricy theories or speculations.) as some say the Gospels of true christianity, or The holy Grail, orJesus' Head, or The Menorah from Solomons Temple (which some believe is underground in the Vatacin), or the buried treasures of the Jews that they hid, when fleeing from the Romans back in the 70's.... the truth is no one knows what's going on there.

The reality is, this area comes down to some of the Heart of confrontation between the Jews and Muslims, as it is the holiest of holy places in Judaism, and one of the top 3 holy sites in Islam (this is a whole 'nother topic)...
more later...

Ya the whole basis of that song by IT, is to bring to light all these theories, that have not been proven, but, in my opinion, are intended to make his listeners think. He also makes refrence to Mary Magdelene giving birth to jesus's children, Human beings killing monkeys to conquer the planet, etc... All things that will bring your mind to the point of no return (meaning forcing you to persue a deeper train of thought). JoMoDo pretty much summed the AL aqsa line perfectly.
