Mannish already posted this in the blazer forums, but thought I would give it its on thread.....

talk about having the whole world in your hands and then blowing it. here are some Great Darius Miles quotes:

"See, that's what I'm saying, I'm the fallback. Just because I'm not playing, I'm the one taking guys out?" Miles said. "Why can't somebody call my room and say 'Want to go get a drink?' But I'm the one.
"Look, I don't influence nobody. I can't tell no grown man what to do."

There were also rumors that Miles showed up to practices smelling of alcohol, something he said happens in every season on every NBA team.

"Look, I can go out with my wife to Ruth's Chris the night before. If I sit down, have a bunch of glasses of wine, I might be a little tipsy and she drives me home, everything is cool," Miles said.

"The next day in practice, if you sweat, it's going to come out of your pores, regardless. If you ask any coach around the league how many times they have smelled liquor on a player . . . As long as that player is showing up on time, doing the drills and running, that's part of it. But there have been times, yeah. Yeah, you probably smelled liquor on me. But it's not like I'm at practice drunk. I'm totally focused."
LOL, he had so much fuckin talent, he just didn't have the drive to over come his injuries....

i remember when Miles got drafted Michael Jordan was talking about he had all the right skills 2 becoming an NBA Great sux dat didnt happen
Off topic a little bit, but when I moved to Long Beach, one of the first people I kicked it with from the basketball team i was playing on grew up with Darius Miles and a bunch of other cats from East St. Louis. We would go up to Darius spot in Manhattan Beach and his mom would cook for us and we'd go through his closets and take all the Jordan shit that we wanted. I personally never thought D was gonna be as good as Jordan cracked him up to be but oh well, free shoes, clothes, jerseys, whatever...we got it. The night I introduced Amare to D, we went up to Magic Johnson's Friday's on Manchester in L.A. and Amare tried to order a drink, but because he was only 19, they wouldn't let him and we got kicked out when he started getting loud. This fool was yelling..."how the fuck can I not get a drink at Magic Johnson's fucking restaurant...I was the 9th pick in the fuckin draft..." Shit still has me dyin till this day.

Anyways, always sad to hear when an injury forces someone out of the league...
