Woman fights back in violent home invasion
A mom and her three kids are thankful to be alive after being terrorized during a violent home invasion robbery. Police say the kids were held at gunpoint and the mom was shot at when she chased after the armed robbers.
The robbers simply kicked in the door. Three young kids, ages 4, 7, and 11, were home alone at the time and they were held hostage at gunpoint. And when their mom got back home she refused to let the armed robbers get away. Police say the three robbers were looking for money or jewelry.
Investigators say the men stole a safe filled mostly with personal papers, then took off. But right then the kids mom showed up and started chasing the men in her truck. The robbers fired 4 rounds at the woman, blowing out her tire. But she wasn't hit.
At that point police took over the chase and eventually tracked down the robbers.
Police think this robbery was random. In the end no one got hurt, aside from the kids being pretty shaken up. And while police say it's not a good idea to take the law into your hands, they do think these armed robbers would have probably gotten away if this woman hadn't chased after them.
The three men police arrested, Jerry Edwards, Steven Norwood and Cortrayer Zone, are all facing robbery, burglary and kidnapping charges.
