Let me ask a serious question without having anybody think / say I'm "hating."

Who judges this event?

Do any of these artist have a real fan base?

Be it that "Pooka", in a sence is right though. Cause I have never heard of any of these people either (maybe one out of all of em'...through the myspace). Cool, you can say, "Now you have." Okay, but that means nothing without an impact. Anybody can throw a name out there and claim they been heard of. Who outside their region really gives a shit?

I ask this in a sincere demeanor...not being an asshole about it.

Fair enough Brugh, but who judged that event?

Second, I was in The Incredible Hulk movie(which sucked) and in the movie American Wedding, yet, I'm still underground.

That's pretty much what was stated in another thread, "In one month most (if not all) will be forgotten."

I'm in no way nit picking at this Homie " KING OF STOCK10", but I am also pointing out that reguardless of the work put in (with the artist he mentioned), they are still flying under the radar in the music industry. I'm in no way knocking your hustle Mayne, but unless an artist has a video on B.E.T. / MTV in heavy rotation he / she will most likely go unoticed in the true limelight. I'm talking a major factor not the buzz created by the circle of friends or within their region...when people outside the circle give it up to that artist for coming with something nice. And I mean giving props while that artist is alive, not after he / she passes...like the moment you pass away, you become the coolest, nicest person in the world and everybody states the "He was the next to blow up." Yet, every muthaphucka that states that didn't own one of your albums prior to dying!

Yes, we can sit here and somebody might think with the cliche' way of thinking, "Well, their still getting their money and getting paid...the money not the fame" Yeah, yeah, cough, cough (bullshit), money and fame go hand in hand. That's why you see these cell phone companies coming at you with new phones every 3-6 months trying to out do each other (sometimes merging). I'm sure nobody at Sony ever stated "We just want the money! Fuck the fame!" Hell naw, they make sure their name get's plastered all over, so people know who's behind it. This way, you'll continue to buy their product when they come with something new (continue to make money, by your name alone). It's like the ol' saying goes: IT'S ALL OR NOTHING!

The other side of that coin would be...they're paying their dues and working their way up, but it's the Homies on the sidelines that sometimes put too much on it and cause spectators to turn the other cheek. Oversaturating something can also kill it...like a drawing that you had down perfect, but decided to add to it and fucked it up. Right amount of promotion goes a long way and if the product is really HOT, it'll speak for itself and fall into place.

well stated. you gave it straight without putting any extra that could be perceived as hate. instead of doing this awards show if y'all got your region sewed up like that, then you might want to bring it to the rest of california

man u hit it right on da dot cuzz real talk. some dont see it that way.. you can fuck around and oversaturate your shit like 50 cent .. too much of him get you tired of hearing about his ass.. look at eminem he took a break and when he comes back he'll be just as major.. how long has it been since the last dr. dre album? what if he cmae out every year.. it wouldnt be the same..

and to be real i herd like 200 people came but 87 artist were up for awards so do the math .. you know alot of artist came with they crews.. so really it was no real fan base there..just artist

he did a show with lil fizz lol and nobody came but i bet if he gave away awards there to a bunch of nobody rappers then he would of packed the house

Thats how the music industry is....You get force feed the music until you like the taste. Half the shit you hear on the radio is bullshit but monies is spent on on Marketing, Promotions and Distribution. Thats why you hear it all the time.

As far as the Hip Hop Awards, it is what it is, recognizing Local Talent whether they got a name or not. I was personally disappointed with the Awards because half the Artists who won awards didnt show, but Im not knockin Macalot because he is the only one in Stockton settin up the Venues to promote Stockton Talent.

Yeah, Brugh, but fact of the matter is 9 outta 10 rappers make their forthcoming album sound like it's an instant Classic, or the next biggest thing to hit the industry since The Chronic so expectations are set high...only to fall short of it all. We no longer let the people / fans decide on our music. We ourselves and our circle of friends rate our albums / music. On top of it all, like Homie said...there are no real fans anymore cause everybody is rapping now a days, or got their hand in something, ya feel me?

I too, am not knocking anybody's hustle Homie, but fact of the matter is...that's how it is. If it's all garbage / weak shit on the radio, then I guess we underground Folkz are trying too hard to shove down our music that the industry refuses to listen to and accept. And it's clearly not what the mass majority of people want to hear...beg to differ? Show me the demand on a nationwide scale. If the underground / keeping it real is what the people want to hear, it'll be a short run cause Gangsta rappers be snitching on themselves so fast, they'ed be locked up before starting their sophmore album.

The majority of people just want to be entertained and 99.9% of rappers have no idea how to do that...that's why a lot of us are over looked. It's time to step our Game up in every aspect of the words and try something new, cause it's clear to see that the formila we been trying to shove down their throats for the past amount of years hasn't worked. They keep spitting it back out.

Anybody that believes not having X amount of dollars is the reason for not being able to break into the Game is full of shit in my opinion. A lot of us fail to read the blueprints and study this Game deeply. Look at Benzino, dude utalized the money from David Mays at The Source and advertized (two cover ad's) on a regular for years and still failed to break the Game.

Now, if some of you ask, "Who the fuck is Benzino?", then my point has been proven even more.

Maybe we should all step back, look in the mirror and realize that perhaps, we're the ones that are full of shit and ourselves.
