If you don't pay your credit card bills, a company will buy the debt from the company that issued the card and then collect. If you believe everything you see and hear on youtube then what happens is this company buys your debt for 5 cents on the dollar. If you negotiate properly you can settle for 10 to 15 cents on the dollar.

Sounds like a pretty good reason to go on a spending spree with that credit card you're getting. Trust me, I seen youtube videos and im basically a financial advisor now.
meanwhile your debt goes into collection and fucks your credit all up so that next time you need credit good luck on a approval....i especially love this one

Apply for some credit cards that will give you a 0% APR for x amount of months. That's what I do and my credit score was 700+ last time i got it checked. I'm using this Discover card right now that has no interest until may 2011. As long as you pay the minimum payment you'll be okay. Just make sure you have it paid off before the promotional date ends.

Just google it, here's an offer from Discover you can apply for

Actually, there's another youtube video that convinced me that the world is going to end in 2012 so that credit score thing doesn't matter. dumbass.

Yeah on a side note I think you need to see what card(s) you CAN get before you get too choosy...Chances are if you have no credit history you're gonna get somethin with a high APR and "membership fee" which charges u atleast $50 right off the bat so you're already in debt.

In this economy yall are talking about credit limits???
What the fuck you think caused the problem we are in???

This is just like everyone in the golden age applying for credit for a vaccuum or a washing machine.

people living outside of their means is what caused our economy fiasco. if you cant buy it with cash, dont fuck with it.

If that was the case, then anyone could be approved for a credit card. There's a reason credit card companies do a hard credit check when you apply for a card. Your credit score obviously tells them if you've been good with paying bills in the past.

That might apply to some companies that are desperate for customers, but the top ones they always check your credit history before approving you for a card. They can see if you have alot of outstanding debt with other cards, and any delinquent accounts, etc. I know from experience and have been rejected when applying for a new card when my credit score was lower than usual, same went for when I requested that my limit on one card be raised.
Its not that easy, but you can also ask the bank for a secure card if they won't give you a credit card. It's like a trial credit card. This will show them you spend within your means and make regular payments, so then when you ask for a credit card they will be more inclined to give you one. This is a good idea if you suffer from a bad credit rating or don't have a credit history.

Since nobody actually wants to help take a look at this site:
http://www.bankrate.com/credit-cards.aspx

I am not sure which ones will give you the best limit but I applied for a Sears Visa and the limit is $8k. I also have a regular old Discover card and you get rewards for different things each mont but the limit started low, I was also in school when I got it so I can't really compare the limit to the Sears card. The other thing to think about if you are going obe using it for a lot of stuff is where it is accepted, I notticed a lot of places don't accept Discover and American Express.

Good luck with the move though, your going to NYC for grad school right? I remember the thread you had a while back when you were trying to decide to go or not. It sounds like you got the loan situation all figured out too so that is good news.
i appreciate that. thanks

Look into American Express. I have a Blue Cash card with $2,000 limit and if I buy groceries, gas, etc they give me points toward cash back...and it's credited on my bill.
call your current card company and ask them to up your limit based on your past account history.
thanks

Why don't you go fill out some job applications in New York instead of depending on a credit card?
lol

I dare you to try and refute anything I said with facts. You can't.

This is what's happening on 12-21-2012: The Mayan Long Count calendar is rolling over from 12 Baktuns to 13 Baktuns (similar to our calendar going from 1999 to 2000 except a Baktun is 400 years long). Also on that morning, which is the winter solstice, there will be an astronomical alignment between the sun and the dark spot on the Milky Way at dawn.

The Maya believed that the dark area of the Milky Way was the birth canal of the universe, so when the sun came up through that dark area, it was being reborn (so you had that part of it correct). But our old world wasn't going to die at that moment. It's already dead and has been for years.

Read "Maya Cosmogenesis 2012" by John Major Jenkins for a lot more on this subject.

And no, don't run up your credit cards, because it's not going to be like that.

Uhm no. Credit card companies are like loan sharks, but instead of broken ribs, you get all your shit taken away. The reason why I am telling him not to get one (and please take my advice Carl) is because credit card companies love giving cards to people they know can't pay them back, he is their prime target, trust me on this.

c'mon now. they get paid with every payment you give them, ya know, the interest? i seriously doubt there gona give cards to everybody who they know cant pay it. im sure businesses love losing money, thats why they give their accounts to debt collectors to work on............
to trust you on that is to trust that you got fucked over with a credit card........but it was your bad......trust me on that player..........

people dont like taking responsibility for their own dumb actions and then blame it on corporate america.........sir, credit cards help out a lot of "prime targets".......dont sway someones decision because you made a bad one..........

if i understood what you were tryna say then i'd respond but you sound like your too young to even have a credit card..............

pay mostly everything with cash but have good credit? who's kid is this?

you can pay with mostly cash my friend, but to have good "credit", you woulda had to have a credit line on your report...........so i realy dont know what the fuck your talking about...........

you can not "not" have a credit card/line of credit recently and have "good" credit....paying everything with cash is not "good" credit......paying everything with cash is not gona give you a good rate on a loan, it may not even get you a loan...........so please explain what your tryna say........
