2Pac and Dre knew each other quite well actually. Tupac directed Mac Mall's video for "Ghetto Theme" and was going to sign Mall to his own label. Tupac didn't work with Dre more cuz Dre was locked up while 'Pac was on top. Mac Mall talks about this in Thug Angel
