A team called the Cleveland Asians, with it's name, is claimed derogatory and racist. With a team called the Cleveland Caucasians it is pretty much assumed that the people on the team are racist. Thats the difference and that is "where the Cleveland Caucasians are".

^^^heh heh...damn! u just cleared that shit up right then and there...definitely open forum.

what about the Washington REDSKINS!?

but seriously though, ive never understood why this still goes on (i know really, cuz there are just no native americans to say anything), but i remember when they were talking about how liike the kansas city Royals should change their name cuz it wasnt cool to "mock" the English royalty (like they were really mocking them).

but i guess there was talk about making the Florida State Seminoles change their name cuz it was deragotory, like the people there werent even Seminoles, but i guess the native american population spoke out saying they wanted to keep it, cuz they were proud of it and it gave them an identity.

I vote for Cleveland Crackers! lol....On a real note...There are a lot of other things that could be used for mascots, people just want to keep the "tradition" going because they've worked for so long to get people to recognize the team by the logo, it's called brand recognition and it's expensive to accomplish.

Personally, I think all that shit should be done away with, there's other shit that can be used and would be perfectly fine.

I think if Native Americans come to a consensus that the Cle. Indians should change their name so be it. But it ranks real low on what needs to be done in this country right now. Besides that some people look at it as pride in a weird way. I mean no offense to Asians but theres no college team called the "Fightin Chinese." The Irish developed that type of rough reputation in the 1800s that made them worthy of gettin the name of a sports team. I remember my college was the Aztecs and their was a vote whether to change the name and mascot and people voted to keep it. A lot of the voters were latino and said it carried kindof a historic history to it and they saw it as something to take pride in rather than repudiate.
