How cud all these songs be about, "i told u i'm dope, told u i'd be huge!" madness! ya'll r emotionally overdeveloped in all the wrong ways

Listening 2 some new music, & it occurs 2 me, a lot of my peers are damn near obsessed with self affirming their talents..its all so empty!

well anyway i found these comments by Knaan interesting.

he's basically saying a lot of rap artists make empty music and ain't talking about shit which is true with a lot of artists.

and some people say artists are always looking for validation. He kinda saying the artists are expressing this desire for validation in their music which is also true a lot of times

any thoughts on this

I completely agree with that shit

The storytelling from old rap is largely missing

Everyone is obsessed with material shit, not just money but gay bags and polos

See what i like about K'naan is #1 his music is hella poetic and the dude got a great flow
#2 the content in his music is so fresh and original

He's the first artist to talk about the struggles of Somalia in English.

But from the interviews ive seen and after seeing him perform live i can tell his mind works differently than most rap artists. This quote kinda highlights something different about his artistic procedure.

See me personally i root for Bay Area artists to be succcessful but a lot of times i find Bay Area music to be empty just like more mainstream music. Of course there's Bay Area artists with great content but a lot of acts ain't talking about shit. Yeah i said it.

the content of the majority of bay area rap died with the coming and going of the hyphy movement, i think we had some of the best storytelling rappers before
