I was just watching mtv 2, as i see theese ads for " sucker free sunday" I was watching DRE's Video " still dre" and me thinking back on the album, do u people think this is a classic? i would say damn close. i meen every song was a hit, the production was on-point, the features wasnt half bad....the whole record was pretty diverse musically, hip-hop speaking.

It ain't a classic.
Chronic 2001 was THE come back of DR.Dre (after the pityful aftermath album) cuz the album is tight but not classic as illmatic or the chronic.

I dont know if you can say its a classic but it was very popular when it came out. everybody was bumpinhg it. there are some tight tracks on it. I havent listened to it for a while but its still one of those cds you can play from beginning to end.

I think its classic, i mean when that came out it crushed anything out in terms of production that was out at the time. that was in everyones cd player for months, and they talked about it just as much as they talked about the Chronic...in 10 years it WILL be classic...just so many radio hits and sick ass beats on that cd.

For me it is not classic cuz i don't listen to it as often as i listen to illmatic or some wu-tang shit.
The lyrics in The chronic 2001 are always the same.
I was into this album like during 2 or 3 weeks that's all....
IMO it is definitvely not a classic...
PS:i don't hate on this cd...i just answer the question.

its hard for me to consider any maintream album classic for the fact that artists in the mainstream seem to just put shit out there to have shit out there...maybe because they want to drop the next "hot" album before the their name leaves ppls minds...excet for a few mainstream acts, most new singles get played like 20 times a day for about 3 weeks straight then its on to the next one.

although i dont consider 2001 classic, i think ts a few notches below classic...definetely not up there w the original cronic, when mainstream was a little more street oriented, now its on some club crunk haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa whuuuutt type of shit.

I feel you and I also dont think he gets enough credit as the other fallen rappers...but I cant deny his impact on WC music..also he brought my niggaz in the game(BONE)...Eazy did have some tight songs though..you dont need to be a GREAT rapper to make GREAT music, IMO

^^^what do u mean Dre coulda done better? i dont think anyone could have made those beats, those were "Classic" dre beats.
thats wut i'm sayin homie, i don't think anyone coulda did those beats. thats y if anyone else did tha album it woulda been labeled a classic (giving props to dre). i'm sayin i think dre has more potential then wut he did on that album, it was a good album but if it was a classic it woulda been talked about like a classic, even on this thread there's some folx that say it wasn't a classic. fold.
