i got it narrowed down to a coupel cameras sum are different types of course

Nikon D7000 (this would be dope cuz i already have nikon lenses)
Canon 7D
Canon 5D (full frame)
Panasonic GH1 (heard a lot of good things about it, even something about weather proof?)
Panasonic HVX200A (not a fan of p2 cards)
Panasonic AF100 ($4000)

the only thing I dont like about dslrs is the moire/aliasing/jello effects and the fact you can only record like 12 minutes on the canon and 20 minutes on the nikon because the sensor chips overheat, Panasonic HVX or Panasonic AF100 would solve this problem but its not as compact and 2-3x's the price.... i could just buy a follow focus, rail system from cinevate or redrock micro, some lenses and a good mic for that price

I'm in film school so.. alota short films, documentaries and some music videos.. what i wanna know is once u shoot 12 minutes of total video is that it? or is it if you have a continuous 12 minute long shot for the canons?? which ive never seen in feature films only if its like a live news shot or event or something..

the amount of total video depends on the size of the memory card

i BELIEVE that the canons (i have a T2i) will continue to record even after 12min, but it just becomes a new file. im not 100% sure about that though, i never shoot clips that long

i love my camera, its hella dope. the potential of these canons are ridiculous for the price. but if you plan on doing a lot of documentary type stuff, i wouldnt recommend it.

Nah no long events hvx is dope but p2 card are gonna have 2 grow on me.. and documentaries not a whole lot.. the longest clip I've shot yet was under 1 minute..... 30 seconds on the screen seems forever.. especially w/ continuity

Peep out chase jarvis @ http://www.chasejarvis.com he was the 1st to shoot with the new nikon d7000, nikon paid him to try it n make a short film and no biased review.. I'm very impressed cuz as we kno canon has the video dslr on lock right now

i hear the scarlet keeps getting pushed back and the price keeps going up because of new features lol..

im leanin towards the nikon d7000, none of the other HDSLRS can fuck with the lowlight capabilities of nikon, for its price the MP's, and magnesium alloy body housing and weather seal.. plus I already got nikon lenses.. but i really like the 5Dmk2 maybe wait a little more and see what the mk3 will be all about or what else comes out
