The tumultuous relationship between the Browns and quarterback Jeff Garcia ended Monday when Garcia was released..

Garcia signed a four-year deal with the team last March but his short stay was marred by injuries and very public struggles with the team’s offensive system and direction.

He hurt his shoulder during the Browns’ loss to the Jets on Nov. 21 and missed the next two games. He was placed on IR after suffering a knee injury while playing as a backup in the team’s loss at Buffalo on Dec. 12.

Garcia went to the Pro Bowl three times in five seasons with San Francisco while running the West Coast Offense.

Garcia started 10 games last season, completing 144-of-252 passes for 1,731 yards, 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

I'm a happy Browns fan...I knew he wouldn't work out in Cleveland. He doesn't fit our type of offense.

Releasing him now saves us money...he would of cost more to keep him on the team.

I think they'll give Holcomb the chance to start. When he plays, he puts up points. Just give him a decent line and I think he'll do O.K.....I hope.

He will be a Lion at the start of the season. We need a solid backup QB (McMahon will be gone) and Harrington needs the competition to become better. If he doesn't get any better, then Garcia will start.

a few weeks ago, when it became apparant that he was gonna get cut, there was a small blurb on ESPN insider quoting Garcia as saying something like "I plan on contacting the new 49ers head coach and asking him for a job...I'll play special teams if I have to"

I posted it a while back

one reason y he left is cause the new coach does not want to use the West Coast Offence so he told his agent that he wants to leave
That may be, but Cleveland fans do not want him.

Butch Davis didn't run the WCO either and he still came. He came for the money, and he's been whining about the O since he's been here. He didn't play that great anyway...add to that his off the field problems, and you have some pissed off Browns fans.
