Dominic Rhodes is fresh off of a superbowl victory where his running played a huge role in the Colts' victory and if Peyton didn't win the MVP Dominic Rhodes would have won it.
Don't let the stats fool you dog.. D. Rhodes' sucess in the SuperBowl was Peyton Manning's doing. He was at the line calling the right plays to exploit the Bears' defense, which was too concerned about Peyton's passing game to concentrate on the Colts' running game. I don't care how many yards the backs received or who scored the TDs.. MVP means Most Valuable Player, and that was Peyton Manning for the reasons I just mentioned. Please believe Rhodes and Addai would not have had the game that they did without Peyton Manning.

That being said, Dominic Rhodes has never carried the load or even showed that he has what it takes to do so. Last year he shared the load with Joseph Addai and before that he was sitting behind Edge.

By the way, if Peyton hadn't won the MVP, Joseph Addai would have.

The Raiders probably have the second best set of running backs behind San Diego.
With a couple backups and a rookie?

No, he proved it his rookie year when edge went down and why would Addai get the mvp?

ok

the point of that is...denver need players and we got top notch replacements

raiders need players and they go and get joe smith from town the street which will make no difference
I think the talent is there, I think it was the coaching that wasn't. Poor technique, bad game planning and the philosophy of the offense was horrible. Until the Raiders prove they are better, there's nothing anybody can say to convince people that their offence is going to be better this season. We will see what happens.

The only thing he proved his rookie year is that the Colts offense can produce good rushers at will. He had a good rookie campaign no doubt, but so did Joseph Addai and he really hasn't proved much either. Teams are too worried about Peyton Manning to focus on the RBs.

Oh I don't know.. How about the fact that he led all players in receptions with 10 for 66 yards on top of the 77 he put up rushing. The only thing Rhodes had on Addai was that one TD, which was a measly 1 yard run.

Yeah, ok so it had nothing to do with his ability to run, break tackles or be a solid rb.

Wowwwwwwww! Let me get this right you said

But, Rhodes scored that TD that put the Colts up by 2 which they never looked back from. He ran strong with the touches he got that drive which gave them momentum. I'm not denying Addai's performance, but Rhodes was better.

He does all that about as well as a #2 guy should. He does not have the vision or tackle-breaking ability to be a #1 RB. Why do you think the Colts started a rookie and let him handle the majority of the carries? Because Rhodes was not a #1 back and they knew it.

And..?

Don't try to act like that was a game-changing play. The Colts had that game on lock after they shook off the Bears' opening score. And plus, it was a fuckin ONE-YARD score. They could have easily gave Addai the carry and he would have gotten it in just the same.

That opinion doesn't surprise me, seeing as how Rhodes happens to be a raider now.

Fact is Rhodes is a backup, Addai is a better back, and Addai was more of an MVP than Rhodes in the SB. But even though Addai was better, it was only due to Peyton Manning's presence. Quit being such a homer.

And what makes your set of running backs better than ours? San Diego has the best set of backs in the NFL... no doubt about it. well if you want to go that route..stokley was on indy fesh off a super bowl victory too...lmfao...get the fuck outta here...addai was clearly the best runner on that team.....AND taht's after Rhodes being names #1 early and he couldn't hold off a rookie back.

and I know you didn't just say Oakland has the 2nd best backs in the afc west.

LJ, and Henry will both also have more yards than all Oakland back combined will have.

that Oakland rushing game will be very weak this year, and I would not be surprised if none of the 3 get over 800 yards.

All Sam Adams has to do is take up the middle of that line and stop 2 or 3 of the blockers for DJ Williams to use his speed at the middle linebacker position. No dj doesn't have to fight off blockers before aming a play, he should be able to utilize his speed and make the plays without the fear of many blockers stopping him.

Adams isn't going to have stats that blow you away, but the players BEHIND him will have great stats, and the d line will be MUCH BETTER with him than they were last year!

He is the perfect fit for a jim bates defense and thats what we needed, not this small quick guys...we tried that it didn't work.....we are better today than we were yesterday with this signing.

I don't expect everyone to understand how he is going to help, but to deny the fact completly and dismiss this as a bad signing, that really shows the football knowledge of some on this board!

Naaa stats don't fool anyone. It was Rhodes that was doing the hard running. In the playoff game against Baltimore... Peyton had a horrible day didn't he? Completed only 50% of his passes and throwing no TD's to 2 INT's.... Addai had a bad day as well. It was Rhodes' tough running that won them that game. He averaged 4 yards a carry. Peyton or Addai didn't do nathan. You're taking credit away from Rhodes'... Rhodes was hitting the whole hard and popping off long runs. Addai was more of a receiver out of the backfield. He played good in the SuperBowl but then again it was Rhodes' hard running that helped seal the victory. Who led the postseason in rushing yards?

LMAO... who lead the post season in rushing? Who popped off the longer runs between the two (Addai and Rhodes)?

Addai is the better receiver out of the backfield not the better runner.

hence why Rhodes was the clear #1 but addai took it over and split in season right?????

Who cared about who's number 1... The Colts liked bringing Rhodes off of the bench because of his down hill running style. They'd use Addai to soften the defense up and then put Rhodes in to run down hill.

And who ever wants to debate... just answer the questions. Who led the postseason in rushing yards? And who popped off the longer runs between Addai and Rhodes?

The answer will tell you who the better "runner" is!
